Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I purchased a Minelab Xterra 705 a month or so ago. Have only found around $5.00 in clad a toy car, and a whole lot of junk, mostly pull tabs. We are spending the winter in our SnB in Idaho Brrrrrr, so I don't get out detecting as much as I would like. I am still trying to learn the detector, so have only hit t...
I recently retired, husband still working. I want to part-time and husband wants to remodel the s&b. So probably going to be dreaming for a while yet. But really enjoyed reading the journal and have learned a lot about what the possibilities are. My dream is to get a small trailer (an Oliver) a...
I found out this week that the company I work for is being sold and I will be unemployed by mid-July. Not too good when we're trying to stash away some major savings for our launch into full timing. BUT WAIT! Between my severance package and 6 months of unemployment benefits, I will be getting paid right u...
In another thread it was recommended to use the weight/inflation chart and add 5psi to the pressure recommended. I've seen this before, but never understood why. Can someone explain the need for an extra 5psi? I had my first motor home weighed on four corners and was given the GY weight/inflation cha...
Looking for advice/ ideas on how to secure a birdcage in the RV while traveling. We have 2 dogs and a conure that will be traveling with us when we FT next summer. The dogs will be OK in the back seat of the truck, but the bird? The cage is too large to fit in the back with the dogs. Cathy
Today made me realize that preparing our immediate family for the time when we go fulltime will probably be the hardest part of all of our preparation. After my decision last weekend to have my granddaughter from Friday after school (about 11:15) overnight until Saturday at about 12:30 every other w...
After meeting Howard I started re-reading his topics and realized I could help in a small way by going to Amazon from his site. We use Amazon a lot and it is one small way we can say thank you for all Howard and Linda have done.
There is a MH listed for sale there we're really interested in and we're wondering if anyone is in the area and could take a look or knows a good RV inspector in the area. the unit is a 2000 Safari Sarengeti and so far it looks really good. We're in Mission TX and want to be pretty confident prior to spending...
I have a 2012 Dutchmen Infinity fifth wheel and want to upgrade the tires from E rated (80psi) to G rated tires (110psi). I checked the rims and there is no place where it is marked with the max pressure for the rims. I had two blow outs within the last year, one did minor damage and the other did thre...
Back on (or is it still on) the roller coaster ride. It would sure be nice if life wasn't all ups & downs and had a few steadies thrown in. First, we learned that the gray tank which was supposed to be replaced this week was not delivered yet and won't be until next week! We deliberately came here a mon...
Any recommendations? I would like to use a portable/hand held if possible to save on storage space. I know that a lot of people have laminate and I am going to put some in our bathroom and kitchen (someday) but have to try to get by with the old carpet for now. TIA
http://www.mytripjournal.com/travel-812748 and http://tucson.craigslist.org/rvs/5036970670.html. Jo and Fred Wishnie used to be a fixture here on the forum. Now they have settled down in Tucson, Arizona and are selling their Cameo. I decided to give them a bit more advertising by lis...
We are putting a water softener in our 5th wheel. Has anyone else done this? Recommended brand? Ease of use? Thanks, Lorri -- Edited by hdhawg1340 on Wednesday 22nd of April 2015 07:00:02 PM
Anyone using the Big Green Egg mini or similar while full timing? We are interested for all it can do - grill, bake, etc. Wondering what others think about it
I've been Fulltiming now for about 7 weeks and the realities of this lifestyle are hitting home...literally! Repairs, lack of Rv spaces and on and on... Here is a recap of my first 7 weeks
Hello! We have a 40ft class A and we'd like to visit Vancouver Island this summer. We are not towing. Is it possible to drive something this long around the island? Through the towns? Thanks for any info!!
We are rapidly sliding down to full timing in the next 45 days or so and we have been motorhome shopping online all over the USA. My biggest question is how does one actually make the purchase from a private party that is all the way across the country. We have found the coach that we like but I'm a little m...
I have a buddy looking to buy a 2011 Coast 16RDS travel trailer with one slide made by MPV RV. They are'nt made any more and we've never heard of this brand. Can't find any online reviews so looking for reviews or experiences with this brand. Thanks
My husband and I are planning on going full time within the next few years. We are beginning our research of 5th wheels that are in the running for our consideration. Does anyone have experience with the RV Consumer Group package for $139? We have no qualms about spending the money if there is value. We h...
Hi there! Well, I've gone and done it, closed on the house last Friday and now I am full-time in my RV. Just one week after attending Howard and Linda's rally in Tennessee I had to have all my stuff out and get out of the house I have lived in and cared for the past 12 years. Tears of sadness were mixed with te...
Edited to add:The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of searching for our new home. We have learned so much from your experiences here and from visiting dealers/kicking the tires. (And factory visits are still on the agenda.)Are there any recent owners of Heartland RVs out there who are willing to...
Well as of 5/22 we are legit full timers!! Will stay in Reno till 6/8, tidy up a few obligations, head for Arizona and just enjoy not doing the same old crud!! Anyone heading to or in Prescott area? Suggestions for a simple and clean park? Thanks Dreamers!!
So, I received an email from Verizon yesterday, offering me five more gig of data at no cost. Seems they're changing their pricing plan slightly. I was on the Share Everything plan, with ten gig of data use for $100, and they said I could stay at ten gig and reduce my bill to $80, or add another five gig at...
We've decided a 5er will make the perfect home for us newbies but where do the pets ride when going down the road? We'll have a dual cab but for three dogs I think they aren't going to have enough room, therefore more stops on the way... -- Edited by Gary and Linda on Sunday 22nd of February 2015 11:45:27 AM
Well it's only been a couple months but seems like forever. Got the two houses on the market..........still nothing...........Urrrrg! Summer is almost here and here we sit. Can't begin to tell you how anxious we are to get on the road. Happy for all of you that have hit the pavement!!!! We'll be follow...
Just wondering if any of the Dreamer family currently or has in the past owned a Trek rv? As I mentioned we're looking for an RV and after looking for a bumper pull light enough to tow with our current truck, we decided to see what was out there in the used Class A or C world. This week we happened across a cou...
We're looking at buying a low mileage motorhome that has extensive stains on ceiling that has been touched up with paint. Looking on top of the roof, I find only some repairs around the AC units. Otherwise everything else up there looks well-sealed. The current owner says the seals under the units...
So, the first thing I need help wrapping my head around is the subject of cold weather rv'ing. We need to make sure we wont have to deal with lines freezing up in cold weather. What are the current and best options to look for in this regard? The RV we buy will most likely be 2010 or newer. Ive seen stuff about...
