Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We're planning on traveling up the Oregon and Washington coast on hwy #101 next week. Starting June 12th 2015. We are driving a 45' motor home a pulling a Honda CRV. Has anyone done this and what are the concerns? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave Mitchell
We'd like to visit Yosemite NP in the fall. Because of the high demand & heavy competition for RV sites, I need to have all of my reservation specifics decided upon before the next reservation window opens on May 15th. So.........I was thinking of Lower Pines Campground. We have a 37 foot fifth whe...
Howard, I would like your opinion regarding tire valve stems for my Chevrolet 3500HD DRW truck. Rubber valve stems or metal valve stems. I'm thinking the metal stems would be easier to check and/or add air especially on the dual rear tires. In your opinion is it worth the $ and trouble of changing over t...
I am purchasing a 2011 prime time crusader and was told it was a 4 season, however the brochure says it is rated O degree. My concern is condensation. The high Rockies wenter nights can be extreemly cold in the winter. I would rather loose my deposit than have condensation problems. Any knowledge on th...
Hi - We are Robin and Gary from Idaho but currently living in Alaska. We have been planning for over two years and initially set Nov 2016 as our FT start date. After studying financials and readying Howard and Linda's story and viewing their budget sheets we have decided to purchase a less expensive tra...
In preparation of going full time this year, I’m in the market for a new RAM 3500, crew cab, 8’ bed, 4x4, dually with the Cummins, Aisin transmission, 5th wheel prep, etc. in either a Big Horn, Lone Star or Laramie. I don’t mind traveling out of state (Colorado) as long as it is a good deal and not too far. Do...
I hope that i'm posting this in the right area and that i'm not reposting this from someone else. I have read a few times that there are a few people that have updated their 30 AMP connection to a 50 AMP connection. i have a qualified electrician that is a good friend of ours and i'm hoping that this would b...
I just saw a report of a toddler falling out of a fifth wheel that was making a left turn near Costco in Helena MT. The accompanying video showed other children who had apparently been riding in the fiver milling around after the accident. The tow vehicle didn't even appear large enough to fit the enti...

Is there any chance that running a LG washer on solar with a pure sine wave inverter would cause the boards in the washer to fail for a second time in 17 months?
Hi my name is Chris and I am a full timer. The air/heat unit went out on my coach. I had it replaced with only air, thinking I would just use my gas furnace. The more I think about it, I am getting nervous. I am thinking I may try to buy a pretty stand alone fire place with a heater. Do you all have any th...
I can make you battery cables, generator cords, any size, any gauge cords, any battery cords ends, see my projects pictures! Can charge batteries with my truck very fast, I call it transfer power.I have built a charging system that can charge 6 AGM 12 volt batteries and charge the batteries full, run...
Hey, does anyone have a Free Spirit RV wind generator, and if so, how is it working? Looks like I can get one for around $300, just want to make sure it's worth it.
After being on the road for 2 years, Kev and I have decided to go to part-timing. We find that we want to be where we are in Florida at least 8 months out of the year. Kev doesn't really like driving and maneuvering our big truck and rig. And financially it isn't proving to work as well for us as we had hoped...
It occurred to me as I was catching up on the forum that I should probably take a moment and say I am happier than I have ever been in my entire life. It's not like my life sucked or anything. Good marriage, three great kids, fulfilling career... but I have never ever been this stress free and happy. Is th...
How do you keep birds from nesting in the metal piece on your fifth wheel that attaches to the truck hitch when your rig is in storage or stationary for a while? Also what is that metal piece called?
We are currently visiting our home town of Columbus, Ohio for the first time since we went on the road and have to say it's pretty weird. We left 15 years ago for a job and stayed in the New England area, but Columbus was always where the bulk of our family and friends lived. Now that we are mobile I was look...

I'm sure this has been addressed before, but I need your opinions interpreting on these actual numbers. We are not full-time, but when my husband retires in the fall, we plan to travel for several months at the time. We travel with 2 adults, 2 dogs, 2 kayaks on a camper top, 2 bikes, 2 30# propane cylind...
I started out a few years ago to go full time on the road. I had my son come home with injuries from a car accident and now he is better and off on his own. Im preparing to take off myself. I have given a lot of through to this and have decided on a smaller class C, ford or Chevy with a v-8 gas engine and hopefully s...
A government Agency I work with has remote sites where there has been a rash of vandalism, trespassing and theft. I was wondering if any workampers would be willing to stand watch over the property in exchange for a free place to park. I'm just testing feasibility before I present the idea to the agenc...

Hi folks. I was hoping some of you experienced full timers would chime in here. How many of you full time in an older rig? Say 5 years or more? We can't wait until our time is here (3 1/2 years) and it seems most folks buy something new to start out. But for us to make the leap, it will have to be in something goo...
We are selling our S & B and going full-time for about a year. After that we plan to buy a small house. We are keeping some furniture, etc. and plan to put it in public storage facility. It is very secure place, but anything could happen. We will no longer have a homeowners policy and we are now look...
