Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Hello From Florida!!!

Hi Everyone - Robin and I are wannabe's. Right now we are living in Florida doing our research. I came across this site yesterday and I couldn't wait to show Robin. RV-Dreams.com is the most helpful, informative site I have seen. We have been reading every category and trying to take it all in. We enjoy reading Howard & Linda's Blog and we have been enjoying all the great pictures and adventures.

We are 18 months from becoming RV owners and seriously thinking about full timing. We both love the outdoors, kayaking, and photography. We went on vacation last year to Zion NP, Bryce Canyon NP, Capitol Reef NP, and the North Rim Grand Canyon. We met a lady who was working at Bryce Canyon and was living in a fifth wheel. She had been to Yellowstone seasonally for 5 years. She told us about coolworks and work camping. We both would love to start out doing that!

We have been to a couple RV shows in Tampa. We are leaning towards a Toyhauler 5th wheel. We are doing all our research and homework now, but to be honest it is scary when we have never owned a RV. I worked at a remote site constructing a new power plant in PA and lived in a 36 ft. Sunline camper in a KOA campground for a year, but it is not the same pulling a 40 ft. 5th wheel across the country.

I want to decide on the RV before we purchase the tow vehicle. We have so many questions and so much to learn.

Welcome guys! Best of luck in your planning from another Floridian - at least in the winter ;)

TONS of great info here. If at all possible - give some thought to the spring educational rally up in Tennessee. We attended in 2014, went home, put the house on the market and started full-timing that October. No regrets.....

Hi Sean,

We signed up to attend the rally next Spring in Tennessee last night. We are looking forward to it. We have a lot of things to think about, discuss, and learn.

Thanks for the reply!

Judy,

Thank you for the welcoming! Planning and a lot of decisions to make. A lot of different emotions as you go through this process. We are just trying to gain as much knowledge and information as possible.

Welcome Bruce & Robin.......small world as this is also the web site that we began our fulltime research with back in 2009.

We sold our home last September and have been fulltime since and we wish we had done it sooner.

It required a LOT of research, I printed out and read ALL of Howard's section planning to go full time!  We spent many weekends visiting RV dealers to see what we liked and did not like then we would research the likes online.

We found lots of information online about this lifestyle.  I started downsizing a year before we even put the house on the market.  I started going thru cabinets that were never opened and posted the items for sale on FB, figured if I sold something for $5 it was $5 more than I had with the item sitting in a cabinet not being used!

We waivered back and forth whether to rent our house or sell it, it was our "dream home" we had built ourselves and we are so glad we sold it!  No storage unit for us!

We have had several RV's before our current RV and we are really enjoying our toy hauler as we travel with a motorcycle.  We are on the back end of our first workamping assignment and it has been a great learning experience.

We will be traveling some up here in New England before we head south back to our winter headquarters in Silver Springs, FL!

Ask away for any questions you may have the people here are wonderful!

Susan & Gary

Bruce & Robin-

Welcome!! You hit the nail on the head. This is the BEST place to find info on RVs and full-timing. It has helped us tremendously. We are about a year away from taking the full-time plunge and have been working on downsizing for about the last year and a half. We have used Ebay extensively for getting rid of "stuff" and it has proved very fruitful in contributing to the RV fund. We were originally planning on purchasing the RV late winter or early spring, but will most likely hold off until after attending the Spring Rally. Looking forward to the personal input and experiences of everyone there to help us make the right RV choice the first time. We LOVE what Susan & Gary said, "we wish we had done it sooner". Can't tell you how often that sentiment appears on this forum. Reinforces that we are all making the right decision.

We'll see you in May in TN!!!

It is really great to see so many others in the planning stages like me going to the Spring Rally... I don't know how I stumbled onto this site but it is a lifesaver.... unbelievable wealth of information. I too am waiting to decide on an RV until after the Rally... just wish the big RV shows weren't before that in early spring.   Can't wait to meet you all in TN
