Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
For those of you full-timing with 5ers, how far in advance of actually hitting the road did you get yours?
Thanks for any thoughts, experiences, input!
Betty

Ordered ours in Jan 07, delivered May 07, house sold May 07, closed Jun 07, fulltime Jun 07. The 5er is the first RV we have ever had...never camped before May 07. We had planned this since about 2002 but we jumped in. We're still lovin it. You can't beat it.
We bought our first one in 2003 and said that was going to be the one we started fulltiming with. In 2008 we bought our 2nd one and still aren't fulltiming. Once our son graduates in 2012 we hope to hit the road. We have no plans to buy another before then. We better keep this one awhile.

RVing probably not a reality any more.It was a good time while it lasted.
Well..we seem to be backwards from the other replies. We decided to live in the RV in July 08, put the house on the market and traded both vehicles for a big fat pickup that same month, my dh retired at the end of August 08.
From September to November, we worked on getting rid of stuff.
We got an offer on the house in November 08, closed in mid-December 08, moved our 'keeper' belongings into storage and had to live temporarily in my parents' vacation home until the end of January 09 - when we picked up our 5th wheel. It was quite the whirlwind!
We spent about a month figuring out the RV and putting our 'stuff' in it, then hit the road in February 09 - still going after 10,000 miles!
We bought our first 5ver in 2006. It was about 26 ft with no slides. After one camping trip we realized it was too small so we eventually sold it and bought our current RV in 2007. We started fulltiming in July 2008.
We had not planned to purchase our 5er until we were ready to sell the house but.... when we came across a used model of what we wanted we jumped at the chance. All being said we bought our Montana 3400 RL about 18 mos. before we went full time. Most of the 18 mos. was waiting for the house to sell but we still used the trailer for weekends and vacations. Now we are coming up to our 1 year anniversary on the road.
We puchased the 5er in December 06 with the intent to fulltime in it eventually. Listed the house in December of 08 and moved into the 5th wheel in March of 09 after it sold. We are stationary still working our fulltime careers but are looking forward to starting our travels.
