Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I am not satisfied with Ubuntu, a Linux-type operating system, and am thinking of buying a copy of Windows XP and installing it on my laptop. I have a Dell desktop with XP, and a Dell laptop which had Vista-replaced with Ubuntu. I won't do this until I check out the Mac when I get to NY which should be in a c...
With Christmas coming Nanette and I would like to give everyone here an early present. It is a gift -- and like all gifts -- must be opened to appreciate it. What we want to give you is the "thing" that not only compelled us to decide to pursue this wonderful life style but has become a cornersto...
Hi RV Dreams family.. I have finally read from start to finish, Howard & Linda's journal. I felt I couldn't post until I knew the 'whole story'. My partner, George, and I, hope to be full timing in 2012. Neither one of us have true RVng experience, though my parents had a truck & camper that I spen...
Hello everyone, Whoops, looks like I posted my Into in the wrong section of the forum. Please forgive as this is my first time ever posting on RV Dreams. Here is what I originally wrote in the Welcome forum-- I cut and pasted it in this Introduce Yourself section now. Thanks! ________________________...
We'll be heading to Phoenix area in our motorhome around January 1st. Our travel will be on Rt. 40 from east to west. As Route 40 brings us into northern Arizona, what would you suggest as the best way to get to the Phoenix area -- actually to Gold Canyon on Route 60 east of Phoenix. We've traveled to Gol...
We have a 2006 F250 Super duty with the 6.0 engine. We've had no problems with the engine. However, back in September while having the truck serviced the dealer informed us of another problem. Not being knowledgeable about trucks, all I know is that it was some type of coil had to be replaced and if it...
I recently purchased a new high def (HDMI) Plasma tv. If one wishes to get the best picture a HDMI cable connected to the signal source (sat receiver, DVD, etc) is needed. Unfortunately, the manufacturer of the TV did not include cables. I'm not happy with that, but it's another issue. I was going to...
Of course, there IS no perfect floor plan, but we saw three of them today. At least they were perfect until we saw a better one. Geeze. Last weekend we hit a large RV dealer and really liked the Timberlodge w/ the fake fireplace. Today we liked the UltraLite 25FKS-DS. The bed and dining area are both i...
My wife and I have been discussing , and thinking about how the 4th quarter of our lives will be, we are currently in the third quarter. Often we see commercials for retirement communities, i dont know, not to bring everyone down, but they seem like waiting rooms for the inevitable. Thats when the flash...
Mr. Alfie and I are going back to our childhoods! We now have bikes again! (Am I too old for this? ) What I would like to ask is. Does anyone know where we can get a listing of bike trails? I have heard that many places have trails that one can ride, while camping, but we have not been able to find such a list, or...
We're out in our TT in the East Texas Pineywoods, half-way into our vacation. Wonderful progress on DH's part! He actually enjoyed looking at 5ers the other day, mentioned a couple of times during this trip that he could live this lifestyle, I've caught him looking at a 5er brochure, even said we oug...
Today's Travel Section of the paper carried a short article on this site: www.goby.com Ya just enter whatever activity interests you & where you're located...comes back with tons of info, mileage, directions, websites, etc. Might be worth a laptop Favorites when you're on the road & look...
I was just send this... 6 months to go... not happy! The U.S. Forest Service has announced it plans to eliminate the 50% discount at National Forest campgrounds that has traditionally been available to holders of lifetime Senior and Access (permanent disability) passes. The change will apply at ca...
We are selling our retirement home in the beautiful Finger Lakes area of New York State to pursue our dream of full-timing. Below is the description of our home -- our desire to travel got the best of us, and we want to do that before we get too old to! Asking $495,000 -- will consider offers! Here's a link t...
Just wondering if any RV Dreamers have been to the Grand Canyon Skywalk? I watched a show this weekend about the construction of the Skywalk & it looked like it might be an interesting place to visit. Then I did some looking around online, and from what I pieced together, seems like it's about $75 p...
I'm going off of your campground review map. Based on that, you've never visited the northern-most 2-3 states anywhere from Oregon to Ohio, and nothing in the east and northeast. Is this by plan or are you slowly traveling the east-west Interstates from south to north? Just curious.
Well the wife was doing the Christmas cards and she asked me to print address lables like I had did in previous years on the old computer. I opened up Microsoft word 2007 on the new computer and went to mailings and tried to print off the labels. I had all the addresses in a data base in microsoft works. I...
We had a 2001 Dutchmen Sport Lite hybrid back in 2001. We made the mistake of selling it year later. Now, about 8 years later, we are finally back, RV'ing. We spent just over a year researching, looking at, researching, going to shows, researching and planing. Did I mention researching? So on 12...
Suggestion for a winter getaway for some..... Sand Hollow State Park near Hurricane, UT. FHU with big, paved sites, good clean restrooms and showers, seldom crowded. There were 4 other rigs there my last visit. Seldom gets much below freezing in winter months and lots of sun. Easy access to Zio...
I am not a full timer yet, but the clock is ticking! The 5er is ready! My partner and I have been making plans for almost two years to hit the road in the spring of 2010. WE bought a new 2007 Holiday Rambler, Alumascape 5th wheel and a used 2004 Chev. 3500 pickup. We have made some interior changes to the 5er...
Hi guys. Glenn and Dixie here, living east of Denton, TX. Just got started in the planning stages. Lots of spreadsheets calculating investment income projections, pension drawdown dates, etc. Visited a few RV dealer lots. Our plan so far: - leave work end of 2010 (next year - *gulp*) - short sell...

Hi all. I am a newbie fulltimer. So far, I'm loving every minute of my new life. I live in Indiana and am (I think) ready for my first winter. My question is, I've been told that I need to disconnect from shore power before starting the engine on my RV. Is this true? I have a 1987 Winnebago Elandon. There is a s...
Do you really need that special/Expensive RV TP? I have read some places that you really don't///but, other places that if you don't you could really experience expensive plumbing problems later. So, what is your experience with TP types in Rv's? Can you really get by with regular/cheaper brands?
After a few starts and delays, looks like we have just 5 weeks left to fulltiming. WHEW!!! Check us out at www.theeastsheadwest.blogspot.com Phyllis and Leonard
This last week our 2010 30RSO Excel finally arrived! We spent Thanksgiving in it camped at the dealership. We are Iowans and the weather was terrible outside but we were cozy inside. The hardest part was winterizing it yesterday and leaving it. Our full time dreams are a little ways off. I just want to t...
Looked at an Open Range Residential this afternoon. It pretty much had the "it" factor. We both liked it better than anything else we've seen. It's an '09 model with the technical things I looked for on the exterior and loads of storage inside and in the basement. And the price is really...
We where in Camping World this weekend, we found a few good books, Next Exit looks like it has some great info. What i was looking for was a book on the BEST RV ROUTES. Does this book exist? if not, it is a project waiting for someone to tackle, thanks Gene.
Hi ya'll, I've been lurking around here enjoying the forums and have finally decided to stop being shy and say hello. I've been daydreaming about full-time Rving for years, but after some big life changes, I decided, "why not go ahead and get started now"? At 34 I've decided that the rat rac...
I just couldn't hold back my anger/frustration any longer so I'm going to use this forum to vent.... There are several things wrong with today's TV programming & Movie production, however here are my two biggest beefs: Number one on my list- The little graphics that pop up on the screen while you a...
