Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Today my TPMS system paid for itself. Driving thru the rolling hills of Tennessee between Memphis and Nashville, I got a low pressure alert on my right rear tire of our 5th wheel. The alert began at 95 PSI just as it was set to do. It took us about 5 miles to get to an exit and by the time I got it parked in the...
We had a fire the other day from the DirecTv unit. Thank God we were home and put it out quickly with the outdated fire extinguisher. The SWM unit on DirecTv units puts out 25 volts DC. The antenna connection came loose and after enough sparking vola a fire started in the walls. Word to the wise, keep the an...
I know that tire pressures should be taken when COLD. I had a long quiet time during a drive and got to thinking ... if I start my tires off at 100 psi cold ... when they heat up to 110 psi will they perform as though that 110 psi was the cold pressure? I mean 110 psi is 110 psi right? Will a tire checked in Phoe...
I just got off a chat with AT&T/DirecTV and expressed my frustration with the "getting local channels" process. I told them I lived in an RV and moved frequently and that SOMEONE at DirecTV should at least attempt to understand our situation. Well what do you know ... the chat person said "get in...

Hi guys, I just purchased the first few elements of my solar system (100w panel, wiring and mppt 40amp charge controller), I'm planning to upgrade it gradually to a more powerful system with more panels and batteries. My generator at the same time is done for, so I wanted to see if I could use the wiring t...
Just yesterday notification emails for my subscribed threads started coming through with just text where the "hot" links normally are. Instead of clicking on the links in the emails, I have to copy the URL out of the email and into the address bar of the browser. I am not having this issue with any of the...
The on/off switch on my Dometic RM2451 fridge has started intermittently not working. It's a mechanical issue in the button. If I hold it down, the fridge will stay on. I can also click it just right to get it to stick on. I would like to just bypass the switch and put in an external switch. Does anyone have...
If you are managing an RV dealership, and someone stops by to look at your selection, please have at least one person on site who knows something about your inventory, and knows where the keys are. PS - antifreeze in the tanks is not a manufacturer winterization package. rant ends...
Hello All, I have a new 2017 Wildcat Maxx 262RGX. I've experienced a problem with the house batteries discharging fully in a matter of hours even when no accessories are turned on. The RV dealer tried to correct the problem several times and could not identify a problem. Today they told me the reaso...

I am really liking this Foretravel MH. It's priced higher than some at Motorhomes of Texas (motorhomesoftexas.com) but it's low mileage and 36' instead of 40'+. What would be a good price to get it at? http://www.allclassrv.com/2003-rexhall-rexair.html I go back & forth between a MH with a t...
Hello. My name is Larry and I am sooooo looking forward to retiring and going full time. I have been researching the RV life and RV's for some time now. I have found these types of forums extremely helpful. My preference is buying a motorhome and towing a vehicle. I don't think I'm going to "travel" a...
I currently have 4 100 Watt polycrystalline panels on the top of my RV which are hooked up to a Humless 1500 generator. I would like to now hook it up to the RV's batteries with the ability to charge the humless unit and the batteries at the same time. I would also like the option of switching the charge betw...

A newbie RVer here, and we are doing reserach on an RV (5th wheel) and tow vehicle (HDT). Plan on going Full-Time next Spring. The RV will be a built (NH, Spacecraft, ?). One of the issues we have gone back and forth on is having a toyhauler versus a "regular" RV. We really do want that flexible "second" ro...
God willing my husband and I will strike out, possibly as early as next summer, to begin a new adventure. I have been a L&D RN for 16yrs and want to start Travel Nursing... what better way to see this great country than by hooking up to a fifth wheel camper and checking out new areas in 3month interva...

Hello All,
Our 2014 F450 is about to exit it's warranty period. While at the dealer today for some service work I inquired about Fords Premium Care Extended Service Plan.
This plan would extend us another 5 years or another 75,000 miles whichever comes first. The plan cost $3,860 and there is a $100 p...
Who's hoping to make the big move to full-time in 2017? What stage are you at, how's it going? I thought I would be Class of 2016, but flunked 'getting the house ready to go', mostly because my time frame was unrealistic. Hope to graduate this spring, though. Would love to hear thoughts and ideas from f...
As I take this journey of 5th wheel versus Class A, I am trying to visualize a day on the road. For those of you with 5th's, what kind of cat carrier/crate do you use to house your cat safely and comfortably? It seems to me the typical small cat carrier would not fit the bill over more than a day of travel. Th...
Just researching, so maybe this has been already asked. We are looking at 1/2 time, full time. We have a house we rent out for roughly 1/2 the year. This will give us summers homeless. So we're looking at full timing 5-6 months of the year. Concerned about the $$$ necessary to see if we even like the lifes...
Hoping someone can help. We are near Seattle and having an issue with our slide-out. Our system is Lippert Hydraulic and is about 5 years old. If anyone is familiar with the area and could possibly recommend a dealer or repair facility we would greatly appreciate the help. Much Thanks!!
any thoughts on using solar to charge cordless power tool batteries without an inverter or converter. in other words some type direct hook up. Kobalt (Lowes brand) has a cordless 80V lithium chainsaw and blower, among others. Would love to figure out how to direct from solar charge. All thought...
