Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I live about 60 miles from Canada. On another forum I read of someone buying a tow vehicle in Canada to take advantage of exchange rates and bringing into USA. He explained forms needed etc. and it sounded plausible. Can any Canadian rvdreamers comment? Thanks.
Who out there has done the research on the best ST tires to use on our RVs? Fifth wheels, Class A's, travel trailers, etc. Not made in China, USA only. Has one brand name surfaced to the top of the line? In rearguards to reliability, wear and tear, etc? Consumer Reports did not mention RV specific tires in...

We have been full time for a little over two years. From the start, we agreed to keep our eyes open for a potential future residence and today looked at properties in the North Georgia mountains. Over dinner, we talked about what we saw and what we want to do since our original estimate was to full time f...
Can anyone suggest where to get a new tailpipe? We lost the chrome tailpipe tip and ordered a new one Online (nearly $100 w/shpg). Upon closer inspection, we realized the tailpipe was rusted out. That's why the tailpipe tip fell off. We went to a local RV dealer and he referred us to a muffler shop. The m...
All the different weights are making my head spin. They are all confusing, but CCC is really a puzzle: if a FT rig has a CCC of 3,000 lbs, if you add a generator and a w/d, it seems you'll be down to less than a 1,000 lbs in no time for everything else - dishes, clothes, golf clubs (can't forget those....), e...
We drove up to Albany, Oregon (from Sutherlin) this morning to enjoy the total eclipse at a small city park with about 50 other people. This is a definite checkoff for out bucket list. It was everything they talked about and if you missed it this year, try for 2024, Texas, through Illinois, up into Can...
We're in Elkhart with our rig at mor/RYDE .. getting the 8K (I think) IS with Disc Brakes. We're getting all their stuff including the relatively new "step above" steps. Additionally, we're getting 17.5" high spec aluminum wheels and Goodyear G114 H rated tires. Oh ... all that stuff is free but th...
OK, we are parked on the driveway and want to run the A C in the rig I got an adapter, plugged it into a 14 g extension cord ( 50 ft) and found what appears to be an isolated outlet, nothing else on the line I only turned on one A C unit and after a few minutes the 15 amp circuit breaker in the house tripped Am I aski...
Does anyone really pay attention to GVRW? We have a toy hauler and no heavy toys, a couple of bicycles. With constant monitoring and weighing we are able to stay just under the units GVRW. This is not a situation I like.
Imagine where we would be if we were trying to haul a couple of Harley's or an ATV/UTV...
I am getting ready to purchase a used 1 Ton F-350 dually. My question is, how many miles is too many miles on the engine? 50,000, 75,000, 100,000? Any advice will be helpful. Thanks
I have a 2010 Coachman Freelander 23BB Class C (Ford E-450 2009 chassis). I had damaged the two lower rear running lights and thought it would be a simple repair. I cut out the damaged lights and wired in the replacements. Now none of my running lights and taillights are working. What did I do wrong? I dow...
I know this topic has probably been asked about and answered more than once. However, we're on the brink of purchasing our pickup and need to be able to save where ever an opportunity presents itself, without sacrificing safety. I am aware that individuals have preferences as to whether or not dual re...

I replaced the fabric on my A&E 8500 awning and one end of the awning does not fit tight to the coach. It will pull out about 2 inches when you pull on the awning arm. this is on the right side with the cam lock, the left side fits tight. Can anyone tell me how to get this to tighten.
We are in crunch time right now going from being a home owner to a full time rv'er. Our home just unexpectedly sold before we planned (we signed purchase agreement yesterday with a planned May 1st closing). So, now we have to get our MS 39DBRS3 ordered this week in order to get it in time. Question is on fin...
OK , I didn't want to title the post confessions of a hoarder. Not like on TV, but I am realizing that I really could have gone thru this stuff years ago. Biggest example, I just retired, I found my notes from school dated 1978. I also found a lot of memories, but I didn't organize it, some stuff got ruined,...

Last Wednesday, the 26th, the right rear trailer wheel bearing seized up and the hub/rotor assembly with wheel attached came off. Long story short...Lippert said this axle is obsolete and has been replaced with one with greaseable bearings. But, they need to be replaced in pairs. I guess this ax...
Hello RV-Dreams. We are Cindy and Jerry Shields from Little Rock, Arkansas. We met on match.com (don't judge - lol) and have been married almost ten years. We are one of those couples that really really really like each other and enjoy being together. We bought our very first camper a little ove...
Anyone have any experience with removing pine sap? We are heading out after a two week stay, where the pine trees have put on a glorious display of sapping, covering everything, roof awnings, outdoor carpet and tv. I think it will take a very long time to clean it off.
It's a few years away, but what an event for RVers... August 21, 2017, A total solar eclipse will cut a path across the USA. Here's a link to the path of totality... http://www.eclipse2017.org/2017/maps/whole-us.jpg It will start at the Oregon shore near Lincoln Beach and Fogarty Creek State Pa...
For those of you who have been ft for a while. If you do not have a den, if you were to buy a new trailer would you get one with a den. And I'll ask the opposite, if you have one would you opt for one without if you were to buy again. Just wondering if it would be an asset for separation for the spouse at times. Just s...
We just got a 36' Bounder but the matress has to go - its awful. Anyone have any ideas of which mattress is best? I know its a personal choice but would appreciate some help.
In our stick and brick house we have always used a waterbed but I doubt that would work in an Rv. Hubby is afraid that any kind of foa...
I thought I'd share this for the benefit of anyone who does not have a truck-grade tire pressure monitoring system. One of the first things we did when we got our rig was to purchase a Truck Systems Technologies TST 507 Flow-Thru TPMS. (One of the many things we learned about at the 2015 RV-Dreams Spring...
Just finished an article posted on CNBC onlinehttps://www.cnbc.com/2017/07/28/the-rv-space-is-on-fire-millennials-expected-to-push-sales-to-record-highs.htmlWhile the mention of an RV might conjure up an image of a big motorized home without many...
As of July, Dish Network is once again offering distant networks with only the LA locals available so far for $10/month. The LA DNS is carried in HD on the western arc 119 degree satellite. The NYC locals are also on 119 in SD, making me wonder if they might offer them again as well eventually. Now Availab...
