Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Don't give up hope. Check to see if there is a website for the location of the Omaha RV show. Or, search for just the name of the Omaha RV show. When we were going to Fort Worth to the RV show there, I was able to search and find the website for the Fort Worth RV Show.
Once on their site, I found a list of dealers that would attend and a list of brand names. There was no listing of models, since that can always change just prior to a show should a dealer sell a unit that was going to be in the show.
While it is nice to use a show to see a large number at one event and rule out obviously unacceptable brands, nothing beats spending time one on one with a salesman and looking at models without interuptions from others that also want to ask questions of the salesman.
Whatever you do, have fun doing it. Jo and I spent nearly 2 years in looking, wavering back and forth between motorhome and fifth wheel, and then back and forth between brands of fifth wheels. We ended up ordering the brand name that we began with on the first day of our saga.
Good luck.
Terry

We are headed to the Dallas RV show next weekend. They are having siminars on fulltime RVing and they will have several dealers there. I will report on it in my journal next week.
Not giving up hope. We were in Topeka for grandsons birthday so it was only $12 lost. Just the sorry advertising they did promoting it as a boat and RV show when they should have said BOAT show!! Omaha looks like it has a few different vendors coming and it is a good area with several different brands to go and look at if they are not at the show. Still looking at Alicia's website almost daily!!

Thanks for the lead. I hadn't heard of Mobile Suites (of course I haven't heard of much since I'm only beginning this journey). But just looking at the web site, I thought, "now that's something I would be delighted to live in full time!" Ok, so I'm a woman, and at this point it's how it looks, feels, and functions that matter most. But I'm counting on hearing tips about the mechanical, maintenance, pulling, etc. aspects from all of you as I get further along the path.
Some RV shows are really just an RV dealer or two placing their inventory in a parking lot in an attempt to sell more product.
Go to the RVIA website and look for the RV showws they are involved in, these will be true RV shows with RVs from manufacturers and dealers. The selection will be more diverse.
Here's the website http://www.rvia.org/AM/Template.cfm?Section=RVIA_Events

Ok, Omaha Boat , Recreation and Travel show.....much better RV show. Looked to be about 100 Rv's there for every need and price. We finally got to see what a Mobile Suites looks like in person as well as some others we had been considering. DRV rep was there...and VERY helpful....and will be soooo accommodating. Soooo, our new dream 5th wheel is the Mobile Suites.....
Of course, this is the 3rd dream we've had...started with the Montana 3400RL, then the Heartland Landmark, now the Mobile Suites. We may still go with one of the first 2, but for now....it's the Mobile Suites!
We are considering whether we need to buy used or new....decision won't come soon. We can't even consider ordering or buying until the house sells, but we will keep our eyes open, keep in contact with the DRV factory rep and the dealer rep and see what is best when we are ready to buy. (house on market April 1st)
One of the biggest helps is all of you on the forum sharing your choosing and buying experiences (Thanks TerryandJo!!! and Nettie and Mac!!!)
So on we go to considering all the OTHER decisions that have to be made before we move into the trailer, at home sale closing, and our "on the road" target date of April 1st, 2011............

Well just came back today from the RV show in Austin (don't waste your time if you are looking for a fulltime rig) and I went to the one in Houston last month. Actually I was disappointed in it as well because there just didn't seem to be a lot of diversity of rigs at the show and definitely not worth the money. Now having jsut said that you really have no choice but to go to a show to see many different rigs so go to the largest one you can...
