Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Help! Left Water Heater on, possibly no water in the tank!

I need some fast help - hopefully somewhere out there knows the answer.  I had to leave town this morning.  We are hooked up to city water.  I dumped the tanks, then about a 20 min later shut off the water connection before leaving.  Would this have been enough time to fill the hot water tank?  I realized tonight, just as I was going to sleep that I left the hot water heater on - one of those lovely eye popping moments.  I'm going to be gone for a week - if there was no water in the tank, what is the risk of fire or other damage? 

Help - i have big meetings in the morning and need to get some sleep.  Didn't sleep much last night as I was worried about waking up to catch my plane, so I may be thinking about this all wrong, but any input is greatly appreciated.

OK -after my initial panic, and thinking it through a bit more ... only the holding tanks were dumped and any water in the hot water tank was still there.  Not a good practice to leave the hot water heater on when I'm gone, but hopefully not the disaster I am imagining?  Still hoping someone can confirm this.

Beth, You are o.k.Emptying holding tank will not drain water from water heater.Good Idea to shut off when gone.

A cookie rally - what a great idea!  We can't make it to this rally, but are definately hoping to make the next one (I don't know of any plans for a next one - but I'm hopeful!!)  If so, I will bring cookies and toffee for all!  I've learned so much on this forum that I feel that would be a minimum for all the great advice I've received and great people I've met.
