Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I live about 60 miles from Canada. On another forum I read of someone buying a tow vehicle in Canada to take advantage of exchange rates and bringing into USA. He explained forms needed etc. and it sounded plausible. Can any Canadian rvdreamers comment? Thanks.
I looked into it coming back from Alaska. First you have to get special approval to get the warranty. Second the oil pressure gauge reads in KPA's (metric) and couldn't be changed (2015 models). Other than that the Canadian dealer's where really nice and helpful...they didn't have a bit of problem with US dollars.
P.S. I was told the warranty issue was to stop American dealers from taking advantage of the exchange rate and vice versa.
I'm going to assume you are talking about buying from a dealer, private sales are a different kettle of fish. Since Canada and US have free trade in autos you'll find the Canadian price will be very close to the US price when you account for the exchange rate. A 67K US price will be about 90K in CDN dollars. Then the taxes involved. As El Rojo said, you'll have everything in metric. I don't see any advantage to buying up there that makes it worth the effort.
Now if the CDN dollar was to suddenly plunge to 50 cents from where it is now.... it could be an opportunity, but that's still a lot of hassle for what you are getting.

I know someone that bought a Volvo heavy duty truck in Canada and he had nothing but headaches with the paperwork bringing it to the USA. He said that he would never do it again.

As a Canadian snowbird I've had lots of warranty work done in the USA without any problems. (On my Canadian vehicle) Not sure about importing a Canadian product to the USA but I imported a motor home from the USA to Canada ( new one).... a real hassle....would never do that again......
