Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Is this a good towable vehicle for a Class A diesel? We will use it for sight seeing to see wildlife, monuments, national parks go to the store get around town while we camp long term

Hi! I just wanted to stop by and say hello and introduce myself. My name is Debbie and I am the better half of mesa48 who has already introduced himself here and shared a bit about the two of us. I finally got an outlet installed so I can plug our little mpg in without having to use an extension cord and adaptor. I have a Progressive Industries portable surge protector which is always used. I plugged in the surge protector, and the lights said I had an "Open neutral." Grrrr. Turned p...
Howard, It s Richard your old neighbor at the Hershey Rally. Quick question, do you have a surge protector, do you think necessary for the 3 to 4 hundred bucks that they cost , Bonnie and I have been camping for about 22 years now and I don t ever recall the need for one. Bonnie tells me it s cheap insurance to...
We have been on the road F/T for almost 6 months now and believe we want to identify our "home base" as Florida for purposes of MAIL, and registering our RV and CAR.Those of you who have done this in Florida, could you give me a thumbnail sketch of the process and how you went about it?Thanks
I lived in an Alpenlite 5th wheel while working nuclear power plant shutdowns during 2001 to 2002. Working on the road in a 5th wheel was much better than trying to find a hotel or rental to live in for weeks or months on end. My partner kept the 5th wheel, I left the road, bought a house and worked at one nuc...
Looking at getting an additional tablet for the road. We currently have an iPad2 which we really like. We would like a 7" non apple product to add to our collection. I would like to hear from you folks on what you are currently using or thinking about using. The pros and cons as well as any additional...
I'm also still in the homework stage and I am exploring other manufactuers besides these. The question is that both of these brands are manufacturerd by Thor, and within each brand, there are several other brands. I really can't seem to tell the difference between, i.e. the luxury or mid range Hear...
We're under contract on our house! Went and put a down payment on the fifth wheel. Now the wait begins....and we start thinking. Are we nuts?! We've just sold our house!!! AND everything we've worked so hard for! I'm about to quit a good paying job. I never thought I'd feel this way. I've always...
My wife found this site a couple of days ago so this is my first post. We have just started the conversation about becoming full timers about a year or so from now. We own a home in northern Calif. We already have a 05 Challenger 5th wheel 32TKB that we tow with a 2007 Chevy 2500HD Duramax 4WD. I installed ai...
We've been doing lots of research, visiting RV lots / shows, etc. It appears the cargo carrying capacity of a MH is approximately 3 times the NCC of a 5ver. Are we correctly interpreting that? This is important to us due to the fact that we are running a business on the road that requires approximatel...
The press release was just issued officially announcing the RV Safety & Education Foundation's 2013 Lifestyle, Education, & Safety Conference. It's basically a five-day "RV College" with over 60 courses designed for wannabe RVers, new RVers, part-time RVers, and full-time RVers. In a...
Just bought our new 5th wheel and have a question. We have never had a trailer that had 50 amp connection that the new one does always before had 30 amp. If we camp at a campground that only has 30 amp service what limitation might we expect? can't use both ac units? any other restrictions? Just never befo...
Sometime back, I experienced an event with our remote hard drive that really had me concerned. As it turned out, it was only the controller, instead of the hard drive itself, so a new enclosure with controllers fixed the problem and I didn't lose any of my data, including 2 years of vacation photos tha...
After noticing a very foul smell coming from my fresh water holding tank I needed to clean it out. My main tank is located under a step platform, the way my tank fills is through the city water connection on the service side of the rig. I needed to get bleach or vinegar into the tank but was unsure how to sinc...
I was out on google images today looking for some kinds of "smileys" that related to RV's and ran across the ultimate RV for the single person. Considering that some on here really like motorcycles and almost anything related to them, I thought this might be just the ticket for some.I woul...
Hi, I am new to this forum and I would like to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Rick and I currently live in Idaho. I am thinking of adding a solar panel to my RV so that I can run some smalle equipment while parked at the lake for the weekend. The kit I am thinking of purchasing is the following: htt...
This appears to be a valuable resource as we prepare for the rest of our lives. Jackie and I have been married so long our DNA is the same. We spent twenty three years as an Air Force family. Worked in a couple of industries following my retirement and now find ourselves preparing for the second greatest a...
Our house has sold quickly and we are going to become full timers right out of the gate. We have tent camped for years, but know very little about RVing. We are excited to get going but are seeking some wisdom of experienced full timers. How do you handle mail? medical visits for prescriptions? We h...
Considering a 38 foot MVP Destiny 5th wheel. Concerned that we will have difficulty finding camping spots big enough for this rig. Anyone have experience with this or am I over-reacting?
So we are searching for that perfect truck and happen to notice some good trucks we find are "commercial". My question is, are commercial trucks a wise choice or should we skip over them? -- Edited by sunflwrgirl on Friday 19th of October 2012 11:26:50 AM
Howard + Linda,I was reading about the up coming "boondocking" rally. Unfortunately we will not be able to attend but it did get me to thinking ( I know a very dangerous thing ). Have you ever given any thought to doing webinars either live or recorded depending on the topic? I am a Realt...
