Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We have just encounted a perplexing problem with our Wheel Masters Wheel Liners and lug/jam nuts. We have a 2005 Holiday Rambler Admiral - 30' with a Ford V-10 gas - and noticed that one of the lug/jam nuts was missing when we returned from a short trip. The wheel liner was a little loose and therefore,...
Look at this situation, i have been reading all the comments, i think the manufacturer was a little shady, and he ran into a PITA customer, this is a lethal combination, G http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q03ZKpkQg38
As my musician husband said recently....we've moved more than a dozen times in 21 years (not to mention all the travel when we're not moving)...let's just admit we love new experiences and that we both have the "road gene"...so let's get a rig and go for it. Reading this forum has been inval...
I have submitted a couple of posts but thought it was probably time that I introduced myself to the group. I'm well traveled but not with a lot of RV experience. I have been in 5 continents and have done bicycle tours in 4 of those; have also lived outside the US in 4 different countries for 6 months to over 2...
This past Friday, we finally made a deal on a 5er after looking for almost 6 months. We will be picking it up next Friday, 5-21 and will be the owners of a 2009 37' Montana Tenth Edition 3605RL. It is barely used and the price was unreal. It has almost all the luxuries including a 5.5 LP Onan generator for r...
Hi Folks! Ken and I are considering going to THE RALLY in Louisville. I understand it is the biggest rally in the US annually and that is the place you can see more vendor and RV exhibits than just about anywhere else. Between now and May 23rd, they are giving $25 credit back on cost of registration if y...
Still looking at the 5th wheel/motorhome decision and would like some input from you folks that actually use them. My wife and I prefer the Class A diesel pusher longer coaches and have been looking at the 40 foot and up Tiffins. As with many motorhomes out there, once you go over the 40 foot mark you get i...
We went to an RV show this weekend in Maryland and loved it! Loved the Montana's, Heartland Trademarks, and Cedar Creeks. We walked away from it both encouraged about prices and a little let down about floor plans. You see, we have 1 child age 3 when we hit the road. All the units we saw either catered to 3-...
I've noticed in my research that most RV's have approximately 3K for cargo space and are on 6K axles. Once you're fully loaded, you'd be pretty much at the stops for capacity. My question is, when ordering your RV, is it possible to get 7K axles? Would this give you a little more fudge room in packing an...
We have been looking for an "older" 5th wheel to try out the travel lifestyle. Found one in the paper today...went to see it...a 1996 Starcraft. The outside is in great condition....has been repainted and awings on every window. The inside is OK, however, the furniture is old and ugly a...
We will be picking up our new to us 5th Wheel next Friday and need a hitch installed. The dealer wants to put on a 20,000 lb Husky. What do you all say? Thanks, Judy & Bob
The Allan's are fulltimers!! As of yesterday we no longer live in a stick house and now our home has wheels. What an adventure. Thanks for everyone helping us out. We will keep you posted. We will heading to Ft. Hood in a month. Still looking for the best place to stay. Blessings, Chaplain Troy!!
We are picking up our RV located in Thousand Oaks, CA at the end of the month and are looking for a recommendation for a place to stay nearby for a trial camp. We need full hookups. We will be heading out from 15 to I-40 so preferrably something on our route. We have a 60 day 1000 mile dealer warranty so we want...
Howard, I've started wayyyyyyyyyy back at the very very beginning of your journal and am reading every single entry. Really really helpful. I'm up to September of 2006 and not too long ago (well 4 years ago actually) you were raving about your weather radio. I've got one but have never liked it and a...
How much smaller is a queen mattress in a motorhome than a standard queen mattress? We start our new lifestyle on July 1st. Currently we are picking our final top three motorhomes and the one thing I have forgotten to do is measure the size of the mattress. As always any help and opinions are always wel...
We are looking into adding a room onto our awning and came across the Carefree Vacation'r. Does anyone own this or have any other recommendations for us. We have a Weather Pro Awning. We want one that is more than just a screen. Thanks, Chaplain Troy
Hi, everyone. We are at my brother's in NJ. He has a 50 amp circuit in his workshop with a range (two straight and one half-round holed) outlet. Our DutchStar would like 50 amps. How can we hook up to his outlet? We tried refiguring a dog-bone 30/50 amp adapter with a new male range plug. But we stil...
Ira and I have pretty much decided on SD as a state of residence once we hit the road. The plan is to have SD plates on the truck and trailer when we leave Pa. It is my understanding we can do everything long distance except get your actual DL, thus my question. Does anyone know how long you have to change yo...
I took a short three hour trip to Grand Junction, Colorado and stayed in my RV for a couple of days but before I left I stopped at the local Conaco to fill up with diesel. I put $75 worth in and when I looked at my fuel gauge I was between half and three quarters full. When I left Grand Junction I went to fill u...
Not sure if anyone was aware Mike and Pat McFall's oldest son Mikel suddenly passed away Wednesday.Just two years ago they lost their youngest son.Our prayers are with them at this time.
Well here Virginia and I sit, a beautiful Sat night in Rhinebeck, onto my question. We are on our seasonal site, the site has only a 30 AMP service, under the lid is one 30 AMP receptacle and one normal looking 110 GFI with a reset and test button. The campground owner explained to me that there is actually...
Janette and Steve were to begin a workkamping gig at Oklahoma City KOA East on the first of May. Today, May 10, Oklahoma City was hit with 4 or 5 tornados, one of which completely demolished the Love's Country Store convenience store at I-40 and Choctaw Road. The OKC KOA East campground is only about 1...
Does anyone of an opinion on airbags or the Maxloader spring helpers. I read on another site, that a guy had airbags then added the Maxloaders now he rarely uses the airbags. I have found the Firestone airbags for around $ 280 free shipping and the Maxloaders are $ 500 free shipping for a 1ton truck...
Is it me or is it gone? The RV Dreams community map I mean. After meeting Howard and Linda for the first time at the fabulous 2010 rally in SC I started reading the journals from THE VERY beginning....even before the beginning, the planning stages. I'm up to Dec 2006 and there is lots of talk about what...
Hello Howard, Thank you for this great forum. Can you please give instructions on how to add our picture to the profile. I'm not sure what I am missing as I'm not seeing this option. Thank you in advance. Best regards, Edna Coleman
The last segment, people walking out on their mortgages. If this was to become a trend could this mean another economic down turn on top of the one we are in?
As per my updated signature, our new Mobile Suites is NOW parked on our camper pad. It came into Oklahoma City on Tuesday, April 27 and after having all prep work done, installation of the washer and dryer, and matching the truck to the trailer, we picked it up today. Now we begin the process of learni...
We have been hit with one delay after another. After some "issues" last year, then a cancer scare for Len and a cat scratch fever hospitalization for Phyllis, we finally took off from NJ February 1. But, our traveling was short lived. We were out one week when we got a call to come to Louisi...
I was half listening to a television talk show today and a guest commented that he was taking 3 months off to see the world and added: “not a bad lifestyle.”What we are doing is using the best remaining years of our lives to see as much of North America as we can. I agree with the TV talk show guest: ours is “n...
I decided to treat myself to an infrred temp gun to read tire temps. Where can I get one? I saw them in the Camping World catalog but went to Lazydays CW in Tampa today and when I asked I was told CW used to carry them but no longer. I tried Auto Zone and few car parts places but they just gave me a blank stare....
