Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I have submitted a couple of posts but thought it was probably time that I introduced myself to the group.
I'm well traveled but not with a lot of RV experience. I have been in 5 continents and have done bicycle tours in 4 of those; have also lived outside the US in 4 different countries for 6 months to over 2 years. Then since I retired at age 62 I have done 5 road trips within the United States for periods of 21 to 88 days with my trips in 2007 & 2008 taking me through all of the 'lower 48'.
I am now a week away from another trip that I believe will be the start of my fulltiming. I will be doing this trip with a Scion xB and towing a Teardrop trailer as I have in the past. However, I will be stopping for longer periods and traveling for shorter ones than in the past. My previous trip were truly road trips this one will be patterned more on how I see my fulltiming life to be.
After thee months it is my plan that I will sell my current rig and buy a small Class C or maybe a Class B. I have been looking at choices for the past 2-3 months and will make a final pick when I have my current rig sold.
If you have any interest in my past exploits take a look at edwardfrey.com
Hope your trip goes well, and you decide to start full-timing. A class C can be a good choice if you don't need a lot of room.
Let us know how your trip goes.
Jim

Ed Welcome to the RV Dreams forum and family! Sounds like you have had a few trips "around the block." I look forward to taking a look at your website. Are you a solo traveler? Sounds like you have some great plans.....we wish you all the best in making your plans happen.
The start will be next Monday, Nov 30th. However, I'll be doing it in an modified way with the Teardrop, then I will probably be in a motel or with friends during the sale of current rig and purchase of a more conventional fulltiming RV home.
Happytrails,
Yes, I've been ridden hard and put away wet on a few occasions. Yes, almost all of my traveling has been solo and I'll be a solo fulltimer.
Kerri,
Many years ago I passed through Italy on the train with a one day stop in Venice. On my web site if you click on Other Trips and then scroll down to Europe you will see my itinerary; but no pictures. All the pictures that I took are on 110 slides and I was quoted $3/picture to scan them - can not pay that price!
I wanted to re-introduce myself now that i have embarked on fulltiming in a more conventional rig.
I traded my Scion xB and Teardrop, after trying to sell them for 2 months, for a 2000 Harney Desperado 24 'Class C yesterday. This is now my home until I become tierd of it or I get too old to live the fulltime life, which ever comes first.
You can read about my last trip with the Teardrop by going to my Profile and clicking on the website. Once you are there if you select Teardrop Road Trips and then Mexico you can start at the beginning of that trip on November 30, 2009.
Great to hear from you again Ed. I have a friend who is really wanting to full time in an R Pod so I'm going to send her your web link.
You sure have an interesting travel history. Hope we run into each other some time on the road. I'll be there by early fall this year after having my schedule bumped up by some serious motivation from all the folks in this great family at the April RV-Dreams Rally.
Safe travels, Sherry
