Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We are headed there the first of Feb and would appreciate tips for camp grounds, things to see and the like. The plan is to go from La. to Quartzite,Arizona and then to Big Bend. CCC
I need to do some re-cabling in my MH for TV and Satellite. My question is do I use RG59 or RG6? I know RG6 is not the best for plasma but do those same restriction apply to LED and LCD TV's?
Hello All,
We (mostly I) have been lurking here for months. I've recommended the site to many friends, as the information freely provided here is outstanding. I feel as if I know many of you. We've learned so much from Howard's & Linda's generous sharing as well as so many others here.
My fianc...
Hello to everyone!!!! From Virgina, USA. Got my RV last fall, used but in great shape and planning for retirement this fall 2012. Looks like it will be a solo adventure, but I'm okay with that. It goes well with what seems to be my theme song of the past couple of years, "Here I Go Again", Whi...
Evergreen and the closed Carriage company is starting a new line of high end RV. http://www.rvbusiness.com/2012/01/carriage-workers-getting-new-start-at-evergreen/
It finally becomes wintery here in Campbellsville Ky. Changed from the mid-50s' yesterday to windchills in the single digits by Friday the 13th. You think it has something to do with this! Expecting about 1-2" of that white stuff by AM. It did that in Nov. of 10. Mother Nature doe what she wants w...
Early next fall (we need to arrive in WA in mid Sept.) we will be traveling to Sequim WA. We will be staying at Custer state park for a time and then heading out. What is the best route from here, knowing we have some major mountains to cross? Any suggestions?
We have a 2007 KZ Montego Bay 5W and are having trouble with gray tank valve. It requires extreme force to open and close the valve. The wire from handle to valve appears to be +/- 18" to 24" long. Have been using lubricant in tank and squirted lub down cable with little success. Have just read c...
We are heading to the tail end of Quartzite, and then we would like to spend 2 weeks camping in Arizona and New Mexico. Can you dreamers share your favorite spots? We mostly like to hike, preferable with some hills or mountains in the mix. Thank you! -Matt
Having found this a common problem, I have designed a product that will solve this and can be installed without a ladder or going on the roof. It is easily removed and collapsed for storage during transit. I expect it can be made inexpensively and priced accordingly. Before I put the effort into formal...
My husband and I have been watching and reading this forum for over a year. We had sold our house about 2 years ago and started to downsize. We have been to many RV Shows and Show Rooms. Over the weekend we went to the RV Show in Indiana and again reviewed the Courgar Lite 5th wheel. We look at a new model 3...
Hi - I am hoping someone has some experience to share. We are new to this lifestyle and not sure how to fix things so Ben & I bought a new Heartland 5th wheel with a warranty, trying to make the transiation a little easier. Well, we have two water leaks and a leaky hot water heater. The problem is we are li...
Hello. My husband and I own a home in Costa Rica, which we would like to sell. We will be returning to the U.S. in the next few months, and are registered to attend the April rally in Kerrville. If our home doesn't sell, we will consider making it a vacation rental. If you know of anyone who may be intere...
I'm not boondocking yet, but today, my AC went out, and my laptop stopped charging, as did all other chargers (cell phone, 3G/4G Hotspot) which were plugged into the wall socket. I'm still a newbie at the RV lifestyle, and I assumed that stuff like that would just go on the battery, but when you think abo...
In 2011, I received my certification as an American Heart Association (AHA) CPR Instructor! My Web site is very much in the fledgling stage, with additional information to be added and more tweaking to be done! Click here to visit my new chick!
Howard and I will be attending the show. Who else is going and what day do you plan to attend? We'll try to pick a day and time to meet up with as many as we can.
In one week from today we will head out on a three and a half week trip. It is mostly scheduled due to some obligations, but we have in between days so that we will be able to relax along the way as well. The rally in Goshen is first up. Then a convention in IL for me. A week later we have a wedding in NE. After that...
I'm wondering if anyone on the forum is involved in shooting sports. I have been a competitive shooter for years in skeet/trap, IDPA, SEPSA and just spending the day shooting with friends. When we hit the road, I can't imagine just storing my guns.
Although I'm handicapped these days, I can still co...
Not much action anymore. Everyoner must be exhausted from all the work camping duties!!! I am at Adventureland in Iowa working in the Games dept. Leave here the end of September to visit my daughter and G-kids in Michigan. Then on to Campbellsville, Kentucky for Oct. 24 to Dec. 23. Hope to spend the Wi...
Would like to try a couple of the State Parks but noticed on their websites that most (maybe all) charge per day for an extra vehicle. We travel like H & L with a chase vehicle plus our 5th wheel/trk combo and we also haul our Harley. An additional $8 per day for our "toad" and bike seems a lit...
I am in the market for a used DP for all-weather full-timing (I may have to spend time in WI and MN during the colder months). According to RV Consumer Group, only the Safari Panther is rated for full-timing. I see that the Panther has All Season Foam Insulated Roof, Insulated Aluminum Baggage Doors w...
We are beginning to plan our route from San Antonio, TX to Maysville, NC and are seeking recommendations. Our travel dates will be Feb 22 to march 2nd or 3rd. Google maps http://g.co/maps/trxfc show the distance at 1478 miles. Taking a more southerly route (I-10) would certainly keep us in warmer p...
We have been at this full time journey for the last 3+ months. At each park we stay at I have noticed that during the evening the lights may dim for a period of time...and then come back brighter. I attribute it to general usage of electricity in the park going up and down but my wife fears that it is somethin...
March 9th will be our last days at work.Friday the 16th we will move the MH to the lake house and the next day will be our goodbye get together with family and friends. We have until April 15th to be in Oregon.Wow! We’ve been dreaming of doing this for the last five years and it’s now going to happen. Wow!...
On their websites, national/state parks and and -forests state maximum RV lengths. As we never stayed there with a 5th wheel , I am not sure if that pertains to the combined length or just the trailer. If there is just space enough for the trailer, is it feasible and/or allowed to park the truck somew...
We now have to replace our second HWH jack Solenoid (both rear) in less than 5 months. Has anyone else had recurring problems with this or have any idea what the life span of a solenoid should be? This seems excessive to me. Our Winnebago Brave is just 7 years old. Are these parts that commonly fai...
So I am doing all the research and planning to go full time in July of 2011. I am a single female (in my very early 40's) and am a bit concerned about the safety issues. Anyone have tips, concerns, suggestions, advice, stories?
