Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I'm wondering if anyone on the forum is involved in shooting sports. I have been a competitive shooter for years in skeet/trap, IDPA, SEPSA and just spending the day shooting with friends. When we hit the road, I can't imagine just storing my guns.
Although I'm handicapped these days, I can still compete.
Anyone else a gun nut?
While I wouldn't consider us "gun nuts" as we don't compete, however, we do like putting holes in paper on occasion. At one time, we had an annual membership for a local range but had to let it lapse due to a shortage of ready cash to renew.
Now that the house is sold and we are paying things off, I foresee a need to join up again.

Got one here. NRA Firearms instructor and certified Range officer. Going to the shot show in Las Vegas in a couple weeks. Can't buy a rig big enough for my gun safe. Not a full timer but will be extended traveler in 36 months. Go shooting twice a month. Teach NRA classes to support my ammo habit.

I hear you on the gun safe. The weight is prohibitive.
Since it's just the two of us now, I'm thinking about a 5 foot tall athletic type locker that will fit in the the bedroom closet for the long guns
Just on a light note, I'm thinking of putting little "circle thingies" along each side of the fifth wheel with a sign above each one that says, "Gun Port."
We were out at one of our local gun shops/ranges this afternoon to look at a Smith and Wesson M&P 9c that our nephew is interested in buying. While we were there, Jo suggested that we see what they had in the way of light weight shorter barreled shotguns for home defense.
Now we are looking at a Remington model 870 Express Synthetic 18 in 12 gauge.
Dang.....this wife of mine is starting to get expensive after 43 years of marriage.

lol I like the gun port idea.
You can't go wrong with an 870. They're solid and dependable.
For size and weight reasons, I'm keeping a 12g coach gun at bedside. The simplicity of the double gun takes away any worries about confusion and adrenaline surge in a crisis and there is less need for fine motor coordination, which also goes away when the thugs come a knocking.
Whatever you guys choose for home defense, get some training in practical shooting.
