Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I heard about this at the Hershey RV show. It is not a credit card. It must be paid in full each month. It give .05 off a gal of diesel and it overrides the fuel price limit cut off on the pump. Sounds good. Anyone have experience using it?
Can anyone recommend a heated water hose? I see where Gene and a few others had problems with the Pirit brand last year but I haven't seen where anyone has had a good experience. Are there any good ones out there?
Any half timers out there? We began our adventure living in our 5th wheel, off the grid at 10,000' in the Utah mountains for 6 months. Had to leave because of the heavy snowfall and are back in the "old" home for the holidays. Has anyone else had trouble re-adjusting after being on the road...
Looking to purchase a RV this winter during the shows in Wisconsin of states nearby. Any tips on what to look for and what to avoid would be appreciated. We have been camping for the last couple of years using a pop-up tent camper. We are recently retired and would like to spend our next phase seeing ou...
we will be on a tight budget so discounts will count for a lot. we got the senior pass. I was wondering if we need to get the passport America and good sam, or would that be over kill. thanks for any advise.
Just a quick look to see if there is any other Vendors working the markets and rally's on the east coast...(south east this time of year). looking for your input on the best markets , and I'm sure there are others who are interested in this area of making an income while full timing. I'm not looking for pr...
Hi everyone! I thought I would join you- I just traded in my Class C for a new Thor Windsport and am really excited about it. I have been RVing for about 3 years and love every minute of it. My wife and I are both retired and hope to spend a lot of time on the road!
What is everyone's experience regarding having first aide kits &/or AED's? As a RN I will probably have a first aide kit & CPR mask, BP cuff/stethoscope with me. I checked into AED's and refurbished ones start at $750 - yikes! So I guess my question is how far do I let my RN desire to be prepared...
Hi there - I've been reading RV Dreams for a while and made the decision to join up. I've been planning on RVing full time when I retired for many years and have just a few years left - the longer I work the more I'll have in SS and my pension. I plan on buying the rig with my 401k money which if it holds out, sho...
We are strongly considering going to see the used Mobile Suites. Since this is our first RV purchase, we are not familiar with the procedure. This unit has a lot of underbelly tapings so it looks like we will have to hire an RV tech if we like it and passes our preliminary inspection. So, then, if we like...
So I am looking at a 96 Callista Cove class c with less than 40k miles. All lights were on inside the coach and both the engine and generator were running. Seemed that the lights were a little dim. Turned off the generator and all lights immediately were their normal bright. What the heck? Anybody have a...
Thanks so much, everyone, for having been so helpful! If a fifth wheel is priced about 30% below NADA, low retail at a dealership, does it mean that there is something wrong with it and that it is priced accordingly? For instance...a rig that lists for 40K on NADA is being offered for 30K.Thank you!--...
Hello Fellow 5'ver's :) We have tried to leave our grey tanks open instead of emptying them every other day, but we keep getting a foul smell. We tried Odorlos liquid down the drains yesterday and the odor has been gone for 24 hours. Is this a regular issue? How often should we expect to use this?
Does anyone have any experience in towing a Nissan Xterra with a Class A rig? I know it's a bit heavy but it's paid for and gonna be the toad...I'm still learnin'..
I tried Googling; maybe I don't have the right set of key words... Is there a such thing as a towable toy hauler (garage) that can be towed by a Class A? What I have in mind is a setup similar to many toy hauler 5th wheels in which the garage area can fit a small car and/or toys but it also has a bed that's on the c...
I have an 2011 heartland caliber. On the slidout there is a triple Flexguard that hold all the wires up. The flexguard broke 3 times in the pass 5 months. Is there any other way to hold the wires up when you open the slidout so the triple flexguard will not brake. jt
Anybody know what most RV water hoses are rated at pressure wise…a check at Amazon didn't have one on the product detail page? We've had issues with our Watts 263A regulator rusting around the adjustment screw…at lots of campgrounds the hose bib leaks a bit so the regulator tends to stay wet and hence r...
I was poking around the VA Healthcare website and came across this: http://www.va.gov/healthBenefits/vadip/ Prior to this, I had not heard anything about it. We don't currently have dental insurance so it might be something worth looking at. Years ago, we had excellent dental insurance but...
Hello out there
This is my first post and I am so excited to be apart of this community
My sister (Iris) and I will be full timing in late 2014 or early 2015
She is retired (even though she is younger than me) and I will retire in April 2015 (if I can hang on that much longer)
We are in the prep stage if our jou...
We just completed warranty repairs at Camelot and we were very impressed! The technician and owner were dedicated, hard-working, efficient, reasonable and even searched out issues we hadn't thought about. If you're passing thru the northern Arizona area and need parts or service, you can't go wr...
I have a Freightliner chassis under my WB Journey and am taking it in for the yearly oil/fuel filter change/lube and service. In looking over the manual, it calls for the brake "S Cams" to be lubricated. I know this is not the air brake slack adjusters, is this something that is contained in...
My name is Jim and we have been boondocking up in the Rockies for a few decades now. A few years back we picked up a 25 ft bunk house that I am slowly converting to dry use. We usually go out a week or two at a time so my biggest concern was fresh water and power since we use the furnace at 9-10000 ft even in the summ...
Hello all! I am Mike and my wife is Gail. We are retiring in four and a half years. I have been reading everything I can find to help get prepared for our new life. We currently live in Kentucky and are looking forward to becoming full time RV'ers. Our dream is to sell the house and travel mostly from Mi...
Talked with salesman by phone about an RV we're interested in on the dealership's website. We live 120 mi. away and haven't gone in person to see it yet. We told him we want to use our 7 yr. old 5er as a trade in. He won't talk $ until we come up with earnest $ for him to take to his GM for better "...
We've been lurking here for nearly a year and have really enjoyed getting to know y'all. Ultimately our goal is to fulltime but we have several years before it's possible. The house has been on the market for a couple of months, hopefully it will sell soon. We want to reduce our expenses so we can get out o...
The transformation has started, 3 rooms painted, 2 more in progress, all family pics, art work and memorabilia are off the walls. As we cover our walls with the recommended neutral colors (aka BORING as I call it, homogenous as Dale is calling it) and see our fun, vibrant colors disappear, this hou...
I am starting to think about buying a class a rv in order to full time with in the next year or two (I'm buying a lot quicker than that just not full time for at least a year). I will need to tow a Nissan Xterra. Does anyone have any strong opinions about brand and model that I should be looking at if the budget...
Hi all! Thanks so much for all your input! As we are learning more about this process, we realize what little we know about inspecting an RV. Does anyone have a good checklist for pre-purchase inspection of a fifth wheel? Thank you!
