Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Has anyone established a domicile in FL?

I understand that Good Sam offers a mail forwarding service and provides a legal address.  Is this true of any mail forwarding service - that you can use their address as your own legal one for domicile purposes (taxes, driver's license, voters registration, etc) or does it need to be through an established organization such as GS (or Escapees in SD)?

Can anyone describe their experiences in setting up their domicile in FL?

Friends use St. Brendans Isle in Green Cove Springs, Florida. They provide mail service and a legal street address.

I have American Home base in Pensacola for my home base with a legal street address. My MH is tagged through them as well as my Dr. lic. and Ins. Had them for about 16 months now. They charge $10.00 mo. plus what ever you need mailed. PIEERE

We're domiciled in Florida, and use St. Brendan's Isle as well (love them!) for our personal and business address.

Florida is getting a bit picky about just any mail forwarding service being usable on a driver's license, but the ones that specialize in providing services for travelers like us have done the work of making sure their address is accepted.

Here's our article that chronicled our process, paperwork and expenses of setting up our domicile in Florida earlier this year - www.technomadia.com/florida

We set up with St Brendan's Isle in 1997 and they have helped us with many projects over time. We just bought a used Dodge 3500 in NC and they did all the leg work for us as to plates etc. They also know how to ship almost anywhere. We use them for personal and business address. Give them a call 904-284-1200. I hate to say this but since 97 we have had seven vehicles and they have done all the BMV work for us.

Question to Cherie - do you have one account with SBI or 2 (one for personal and one for business)?

Just one SBI account- you can setup multiple names on the account for them to receive mail for. You just have to have the appropriate postal form notarized for each entity. We actually have ours setup for 4 different entities - each of our individual names, our business name and Technomadia.

Count us as another happy SBI customer.  It was a no-brainer for us to use them since we sold our house in the same county.  They were super with our transition to their address as our permanent domicile and led us step by step through the procedure for changing our driver's licenses and vehicle registrations. They are not the least expensive of all the mailing services but you definitely get what you pay for.
