Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Got the truck back last night, new engine totally covered by the Ford Warranty
Drove it around a bit, up and down a few good grades and were relieved when everything worked as expected. Left our campground very, very early this morning and drove for a couple of hours before we stopped at a rest stop so I could get my regular day job done. We'll be on the road again tonight, heading north. Trying to drive early AM and in the evenings to avoid the very HOT afternoon temperature. We didn't want to leave the Laughlin area at 3 PM right as the temps were hitting triple digits so we're driving when my work allows and stopping along the way.
Thanks for all the words of encouragement over the last month as this ordeal has been resolved!!
Thanks All, it's a huge relief to have this bump in the road behind us.
@Debbie, yes, we will be at the El Dorado Hills Art and Wine festival, relieved that we didn't have to cancel the art show. Would love to see you guys again. Maybe we can enjoy a glass of wine together
Regarding the question of what went wrong, I'm not the most mechanically inclined, my understanding is that basically 2 of the 8 pistons just blew apart, they found lots of bearings in our oil pan. Engine was replaced with a remanufactured engine.
We asked about the break in time / process, the diesel mechanic's reply was to "drive it like you mean it". So we're driving 2-3 hours at a time, trying to drive in the cooler parts of the early morning and evenings. First time I've ever spent time working in a truck stop, I think I want to avoid that again, it's a little too noisy to concentrate
Wonderful news! You have to be so glad to get out of the wind and climbing heat. Great to hear that Ford covered everything, even though it took sooooo long
