After the RV Dreams Rally and attending the excellent class on Blogging, we've decided to start our own. While working on my first post, I have a problem with the program putting additional line spacing between my paragraphs. I want to have a space between each one but when I preview the post, there a...

I am a full timer. Have been one for two years. I presently live in a 45' RV Class A. I have two computers in my Coach. A Laptop and Desktop. I use the built in wifi card in the laptop and have been doing ok with that because of the size of my RV I usually have to stay in good parks. I installed an Alfa usb connected...

GPS in Alaska
(Preview)
I am looking at purchasing my first GPS and like everything that I do, I research the topic till I am thoroughly confused. The GPS will be used for vacations within North America (not necessarily via RV) but the first big test coming up will be in Alaska in an RV. In reading some of the reviews of GPS models...

Looking into Satellite Internet
(Preview)
I have heard from folks on this forum and others out "in the world" that satellite Internet is not as outrageously expensive as I thought. If any of you sat Internet users have a minute to take a look at this site I found http://www.maxwellsatellite.com/personal.htm and can give me an ide...

Has anyone had a NeatDesk for scanning receipts?
(Preview)
I saw an add for NeatDesk scanners on TV today and it seemed like a great way to keep records and reduce the paper around the house or the RV. Has anyone had any experience with these? The URL is http://store.neatco.com/ -- Edited by Merikay on Monday 29th of March 2010 03:57:52 PM

Something to share, at last
(Preview)
For the last week or so I've been fiddling with the onboard again. There's code written to start/stop the fans and the furnace, and it works really well. It just has gotten kinda cruddy over the last two years and eats more memory than I like. It also doesn't work as seamlessly with the database. I've be...

Distant Network Service - Possible Temporary Interuption (Congress)
(Preview)
It is possible that Sunday night, March 1st, the satellite carriers, such as Direct TV, may be forced to turn off DNS service. That is, for example, the delivery of the broadcast network service from CBS, Fox, ABC, etc. from the New York or LA stations that is broadcast nationwide to “mobile people” l...

Just a heads up to those of you with DirecTv service. I called yesterday to change my service address like I have done multiple times in the past. I like to receive the local stations from where we are parked. Now I find out that DirecTv will no longer change your service address, for any reason. This c...

Updated maps for GPS
(Preview)
Does anyone update their GPS periodically, or do you just buy a new GPS? I just checked and I can get an update for cities in the lower 48, but with the caveat that due to increased file size the maps might not "fit" on my device. I bought the Garmin a bit less than 1-1/2 yrs ago, and as far as I can...

Look what I found: hField Wi-Fire
(Preview)
First let me be clear: I make no money on this product. But I've been asked to review it, and as it turns out, I really LOVE it. Like the rest of you, I have an eye out for things that'll make wifi easier or better, and I don't want to spent a lot of money on it, either. This, is that. It's a USB directional wifi an...

GPS isn't impressive
(Preview)
I borrowed a nice Garmin GPS from a friend to play with on a recent trip. At end of the trip, I decided that I preferred my laptop and Streets and Trips. There are so many more things that I can do with it that aren't available with a GPS. For one, waypoint use is more user friendly and useful. Instead of t...

Another use for a GPS - wandering the backroads

Another discussion on GPS usage caused me to remember how some friends use their GPS, they use it to creatively take wild routes home. What they do is go someplace 25 to 50 miles from their campsite the normal way, maybe to go to a museum or some other attraction. But when they decide to go home they pro...

I recently purchased a new high def (HDMI) Plasma tv. If one wishes to get the best picture a HDMI cable connected to the signal source (sat receiver, DVD, etc) is needed.
