Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
It's been a while since I've posted so, while we have internet, I thought I would do a quick update. We closed on the house on the 4th of August, I retired on the 15th, and we left Springfield, MO on the 25th. Spent a week in Madison, WI and headed west through MN, ND, MT, and ID to arrive at my cousin's place i...
Kristi and I attended the Goshen Rally just this past week. While Kristi had done her usual (and amazing) internet research, I had not. Maybe that explains why I wrote 36 pages of notes, not including the notes on the copious number of handouts. Just wanted to thank Howard and Linda for the event and the...
Folks, I'm brand new on this site but have been RVing for 20 years. Never had solar on the RV and I'm finding it necessary now. Too many dry camping trips in close quarters to others where the generator is becoming less practical with fumes and noise. I'm in the exploratory stage right now and will pro...
What are you personally doing for medical insurance? Or what will you do when you hit the road? As I have read various threads the biggest concern for many people is medical insurance in their new RV lifestyle. We can all agree that changes have happened in the last year and many things are now differ...
I have some sort of leak in my bathroom under the sink, I have little $ so taking it in to a shop Isn't possible. I know i need a new water pump but it's not leaking there. Also I have an electrical issue, do u helpwith those? thx, Lynette
Is there a way to increase water pressure in a drv rv when hooked to external city water? Shower is ok.. but not what I would prefer.. need more pressure.. And Am I suppose to turn on my pump? No, right? Only when using the freshwater tank as a supply, right? Thanks.
I have an opportunity to purchase a older Class C Motorhome that is 28' long. Are there any solo RVers out there who drive something that size or larger? I'm trying to figure out if that's doable for me, especially if I have to tow a car behind it. I've driven pickups pulling trailers and a 24' U-Haul, j...
I see so many people rving, and putting like 15k miles a year traveling..more or less I plan on staying in area's by the month.. and being thorough in a area.. soaking in all it has to offer.. versus a action pack week after week after week.. I know there is no right or wrong way.. Maybe there is a best way? or...

I'm curious as to how much electric folks are using when boondocking. Reason for asking, Karen and I are planning to head out FT in 2015 and hope to do some boondocking. I want to add solar to the travel trailer. I'm contemplating 300 amp/hr of batteries and 400 watts of solar to start. I plan to design...
Is anything happening on the RVILLAGE site. Last post was quite sometime ago, and it seems there isn't any traffic on the site. Just wondering since we're new to the RV-Dreamers community.
Hi All, We've been using the Weather Underground map and watching the local news as a fire continues to burn NE of us in the Sierra Nevadas. Tonight we were watching the huge cloud caused by the fire turn colors during the sunset hours. Beautiful in an unreal kind of way, but still somewhat scary to see...
Don't get too nervous, Terry! It's not what you think!!! Discovered an "eewy" phenomenon while driving up from FL to SC. Windshield and front of RV totally covered with splattered bugs, and when we got out of the truck, they are swarming all around by the thousands (or perhaps millions...
We are planning to travel south along the Oregon coast next month and are looking for recommendations on favourite big rig friendly campgrounds. (State Parks or Passport America) Also places to see, hikes, restaurants, brew pubs etc. We have done the coast before but rushed thru getting back to Can...

I am new to the forum. There are quite a few campgrounds that have metered electricity for their monthly sites . Is there any way to cut down the amount of shore power used (through the use of solar panels) and still remain plugged in? It is my impression that all power would be routed through shore po...
We change out our vehicle tires every 6 or 7 years as we don't actually put that many miles on them but have heard that for safety's sake, this is the way to go. We keep our vehicles a very long time which was probably our greatest effort toward being debt-free. I see that many people may be buying used tra...
We are hoping to sell our home and go full-time traveling in the next 2 years. Would love to get a DRV quality unit, but budget is limited so we have to go with a mid-range. Have to buy new as we have a TT trade-in that we are upside down in and haven't been able to sell it. What is the best quality for the money?...
I'm part of the 2015 FT RV Dream Class and I would like to know from the veteran how much should I consider to put in my monthly budget for the maintenance of my rig. I'm looking at a 40 feet DP, I'm looking to buy new unless I find a really good deal to a similar rig but not more than 2yrs old. No matter what I...
So we been casually looking and dreaming for 10+ years. Each year we go to the RV shows and find our "new model" that we think would work for us. It's almost time now to buy. Hoping to be on the road part time in Summer, 2015. After doing some research online we've come across the Arctic Fox b...

Ok friends and wise ones, I need your help. After 21 months of planning, we are ready to hit the road at the end of this month. I am sooo ready, except I am dreading saying goodbye to my loved ones. I am afraid I will collapse into a blubbering mess . How did you handle this? I have wanted to rv travel my whole l...
I have 4 bags placed throughout the trailer and over this weekend the cats (Chloe & Nala) were in hunting mode at bottom of the stairs looking into the space below the stairs. Yesterday I placed a new bag in that area and last night Cheri was watching tv in Liv. rm. Cloe had a small mouse and they bot...
I went full time Aug 2012 after the Lord called my wife of 43 years. She fought cancer for the last six years. The RVing community and members of the Montana Owners Club have helped me survive these last two years.I did 20 years USMC and 20 more with the Federal Government. During that time I saw 40 countri...
As many of you know our house has been on the market since Mid-April and we are in a waiting period. At first it was REALLY difficult. Lee and I were driving each other crazy and the temptation to do something really stupid was almost overwhelming. But we got a hold of ourselves and settled in and for th...

Hi, I saw a thread about the requirement for a commercial license, but my Q is about the vehicle registration. I noticed that in Florida, for example, any vehicle weighing more than 5,000 lbs is required to be registered as commercial. We haven't picked out our 5'er yet, but it'll be in the area of 18,...
We have been having issues with our 4 door, side by side refrigerator in our 5th wheel and are considering the options. If you would like to know more about this, and see pictures of a possible residential refrigerator we are considering, you might check out this blog entry: RV Refrigerator Issues a...
I'm still a 'wanabe', busy organizing and getting my house ready to sell, hope to be in a full-time RVer by next summer. I am soooo ready to get out from under the house and out into the world. I'll still have to work a few years but it will still be cheaper than staying in the house. Besides, I'm tired of...
