Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

FMCA Rolls Out Unlimited Verizon Hotspot Plan

https://www.rvmobileinternet.com/fmca-rolls-out-unlimited-verizon-hotspot-plan/ has the details, including how someone without a motorhome can join FMCA.  The plan basics are the 7730L Jetpack (mobile hotspot) is free, the plan is $49.99 a month for unlimited and subject to network prioritization at 25GB of usage.

This a a fabulous deal.   Not as good as the $20/month AT&T ZTE Mobely deal, but it is on Verizon and the 7730L is a better device than the Mobely for those of us who travel.

The 7730L is nice, since I have one already on my Verizon plan.  It has both 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ radios, a huge battery so it can last all day, uses USB-C for power, can pick up all of Verizon's frequencies, and works well.   The FMCA plan is probably USA only, but I have used the 7730L in Canada and it works well there.

FMCA has dropped the price to $43.99 now, and yes, the plan is US only. The 7730L is shipped directly from Verizon, but the monthly billing comes from FMCA.

We are waiting for the phone call from FMCA, since we did sign up for the deal. We have been FMCA members since 2001. We will see how long this plan is available, since I have already found two non-RV news sites carrying info on it - http://bgr.com/2017/06/14/verizon-unlimited-data-hotspot-deal-50-per-month/ and https://www.phonedog.com/2017/06/14/heres-how-you-can-enjoy-verizons-secret-50month-unlimited-hotspot-data.

According to www.rvmobileinternet.com site, the FMCA sign up page is showing a notice saying that signups have reached a maximum for the month.

From the FMCA page on RVillage: FMCA recently sent out notifications to a limited group of members as part of a “soft launch” or “beta test” of a wireless data plan from Verizon. FMCA had plans to share this information with the entire membership after this test period. Online news outlets heard about the plan and released information before FMCA was ready to make the announcement to all members. Response during this test period has been overwhelming, and we have had to suspend entries to the program. Rest assured that once we are ready to release information about the benefit, all members will be given the opportunity to evaluate the program and enroll if they believe it will meet their needs. Stay tuned for additional information.

More from FMCA on RVillage: "As you may have heard, FMCA had been working with Verizon to offer a special rate on an unlimited wireless data plan. After the “soft launch” of this plan to a test group of FMCA members (before the planned launch to all members), Verizon called FMCA and pulled the offering. Verizon officials indicated that they will not be honoring any of the orders that had been entered during this test period. We are still working to see whether FMCA and Verizon can put together an advantageous plan for FMCA members, but at this point we are not certain what will result from discussions with Verizon officials. "

Sounds dead to me.

Edit: Just received email for FMCA cancelling my order and saying Verizon cancelled the plan.  It is definitely dead.  It was too good to be true.
