Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We are headed to Custer State Park SD May 1st from Tulsa, OK. Will be doing some work camping there over the summer. Have 6 days to get there and would like to stay away from interstate as much as possible. Are there any suggestions on a route with good scenery and not to much heavy traffic. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks
Butch & Sandy
Hello,
First of all I would like to wish you a happy journey.
I am sorry I could not suggest you anything, since I have never been to this route. But if find anything worth seeing please do let me know, so that if ever I would go to that route I can also experience the same.
Hi Doyle, when I get there I will let you know the route we took and if I would recommend it. Looking at maybe going up highway 81 for a good part of the northern direction. Just not certain the condition of the road, don't want to beat up my rig. Thanks for the reply👍
I would consider 75 north to 400, just north of independence. Then 400 over to 183. Go north on 183 to 2 in northern NE. Take 2 over to 385 which will get to the black hills/ rapid city area.
Thanks Ricki, I appreciate you taking time to reply to my post. Have you traveled that route recently? Looks like that takes us right to the park area. Again, thank you so much.
Butch
I have taken the route in sections but never in one trip. It's been a while since I have been on 183' but I have driven the other parts within the last 3 years. I believe my nephew takes 183 quite often with his semi on his way from Mpls to Alburquerque.
Hi Rick,
Just a little up date on our travel to Custer State Park. We took your suggestion on our travel route, and it worked out great! Just exactly what we wanting. Roads were good and very little construction. The only change we made was we took took 169 all the way to 400 and cut out the little stretch of 75. Thank you for the suggestion.
