Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Looking at our trip from Harrisburg PA to Columbus GA I am looking at I-81 or the Blue Ridge Parkway which seems more scenic. Anyone here went this way on either of these routes and have some pros or cons either way? We have never been in this part of the country so it all new to us. We have 4-5 days to do it so not going super slow, but 200-300 miles a day should get us there.
I lean toward the Parkway as that is my style of travel. We pull a 30 ft. Fifth wheel and our only concern is those tunnels. But from what I have read if you stay toward the center you will be okay. We are 12 ft. 8 in. at our high point. Do you remember if all tunnels are doable for that size?

Yes, careful, there are some tunnels that are not big rig, or even modest rig, friendly. I had concerns for two even with an Airstream but I can't tell you where they were. Wonderful road to travel, just be aware.Remember, if a car is coming the other way sometimes you can’t go down the middle.
I’d take I-81 which is also a very beautiful drive but without the RV issues you might find on the 45 MPH Blue Ridge Parkway.
I saw that, but everyone seems to say that is the center clearance so beware for the minimums. As a couple of newbie rv'ers we are concerened with the minimum clearance as to weather we can stay away from the edge. I hear you can see the end so you can drive through when no one is coming and stay in the middle more.
Just being cautious, but do not want to be so afraid to drive somewhere it is okay to go and miss it.
