Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Trace & Lee,
You guys sound like you have made some definite decisions - and taking action. We had the very exact thought when we lost our $$ from the S&B - we can always make more, but we can't make the golden opportunity to do this RV Dream happen later, we won't risk that. Big hugs to you both. Rock on 2014 Graduates!

Had an open house yesterday and had 6 couples. Three seemed interested and asked very specific follow up questions which is a great sign. Cross your fingers everyone
I love reading all the good news and updates on this thread. It's exciting to read of so many of your plans to say nothing of dreams come together! For those of you still waiting - hang in there.
For those with spreadsheets, don't forget add in RVDriving school.
Cheryl, you need to figure out soon where you can stay for your recovery, I'm worried about you. If you were out west here we could put you in our guest room but betting the upcoming construction of remodel would not be restful. It's supposed to go quickly though.
Sherry

I haven't had much time for typing lately. I have seen all of the good news and congratulations to all that have shared their recent successes. We also had a contract within 72 hours of poking a sign in the ground. It has been a whirlwind ever since! Everything we want to store fit into two storage units, one a 10 by 15 and the other a 10 by 5.
We closed on the house on the 21st, so that is out of the way. I have 4 more days to work and I'll be retired! Since we no longer have a S&B house and have been in the RV since the 14th, we must be full-timers, right? Anyway, it will feel more like full timing when we hit the road. That will be about the 13th or 14th of August. Our first destination will be Berryville, Arkansas; where our daughter, granddaughter and son-in-law live. After about a 3 week stay there, we will go to South Dakota to become "residents" and get our drivers licenses.
Again, congrats to all! Soon, I'll have time to keep up with this forum!

That's very kind, Sherry.
I am very fortunate, blessed and grateful that my hip dislocated while at my brother in law's house (first time that week (3rd time since the replacement) was in a Walmart parking lot where we overnighted. After going to the ER and having it put back in, we took the 3 hr drive to Mitch's brother, which was supposed to be the first stop of our journey. But since I dislocated it again a few days later at his house, what started as a several day visit has turned into moving in for a few months. So no worries - I do have a safe and restful place to stay, with people who love and care about me (hope they still do when this ordeal is over!) and in a community with excellent choices of healthcare. Blessed that this didn't happen in the middle of nowhere with few or no doctors around.
We are living in the house, with the RV in the driveway and will most likely continue to do so during the recovery period.

As a member of the Class of 2014, I would like to announce our official start as TRUE full timers. We have been living in our Bighorn for the last 3 weeks prior to the closing on our house but now after the closing that took place on July 25 we have joined the ranks of "houseless but not homeless". Still letting it all sink in but it feels right. I feel so comfortable in our "new" home. Still stationary until I retire at the end of August. Retirement with our company has to happen on the first day of a month so Friday, August 29 is my last day. After that it's a quick drive to SD for the drivers licenses and then back to IL, hitch up the Bighorn and on to Goshen for the fall rally. Looking forward to meeting more of the class of 2014 and those still working toward their dream. Thank you to all for your answers to questions and insight into your lives that make our dream a reality. See you on the road. Curt
Congrats Curt & Glenda! That is terrific. I really liked living in our 5er before taking off on the road, just to get a sense of what's to come. But I am discovering its nothing until you start traveling. We are only a foot step ahead of you guys, after mor/ryde installation this week, we will head out to SD next week. I can't wait!
Trace & Lee, you know I'm sending mojo and tons of prayers for you to get a buyer! Hang in there!

Thank you Linda. I'll be reading your blog to see how things go in SD getting the licenses since we will be going soon too. I have to say I completely understand your feeling when you were stationary full timers. I know it will feel much better once we can begin traveling. Safe travels. Curt
Congratulations, Curt and Glenda! I am so happy for you. We are right behind you. (Not literally!) We are only 2 weeks away from leaving Texas to pick up our new home in Elkhart. Now that our time is so near (finally), I get butterflies just thinking of how close we really are. Three years is long enough to dream. It's time to start livin' it. Godspeed to you and all the dreamers!!
Congrats Curt & Glenda and Joe Camper! Curt, we'll be in SD end of Aug, beginning of Sept. Maybe we'll see you there. If not, we'll see ya at the rally! We are really enjoying being OUT. Happy for all of you!
Woo hoo Curt and Glenda. May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your Heartand Bighorn .
We are camping a few days with Bill and Nancy (RV-dreams spring rally) this week. What an amazing couple. Perhaps the next best thing to getting to full time status is getting to spend some time around a campfire with others that are. Oh got a nibble on our B&B as we pulled in too. Love those signs reminding us we ARE on the right path.
Thank you all for the well wishes. It's so great being a part of a community like this. Debbie and Steve, we should be out in SD on Sept 2 or 3. That would be cool if we were there at the same time. Really looking forward to meeting all the dreamers and full timers at the fall rally. Good mojo to those with homes and businesses on the market for quick sales. See you all down the road. Curt

Quick update:
feel free to say prayers for Cheryl, she's currently (as I am writing) having her hip revision surgery now-- in waiting room for her.
We are also lucky it was delayed a week, since the dr found a major anemia problem from low iron levels.
All looks good now, and who knows, maybe we can even make it to Elkhart this September. No guarantees, but who knows>!
My sister tells me I will definitely go to a place I didn't know existed-- "Husband Heaven"

Congrats to Curt and Glenda! And, prayers for Cheryl. I hope you heal quickly! I see some of you heading to SD, but I think it will be more towards the end of September before we get there.
I am officially retired as of yesterday! Whoo Hoo! Today I have to run to the Social Security office and get a replacement SS card. I haven't seen or needed that sucker in 40 some odd years! However, I now need it to get the SD tags for my truck and camper. We are still on target to hit the road on August 14th. I think we could do it earlier, but I've been getting some Chiropractor treatments (pinched nerve) and may need them right up until we leave. It's hell getting old! LOL!
Ok folks there is the latest news. We close on our house August the 11. We have sold, given away, threw away.an took to the goodwill. The house is now clean an ready to turn over to the new owner. We will move into a campground on August the 8th until September the 8, that is when I will retire. Then on September the 9 we will head to south Dakota to change our residents. After that ? To every one still trying to sell we wish you lots of luck. It took us. 7 long months. We hope to meet everyone on the road in the future. This is a great forum.

Kenny & frances
Congrats Curt and Glenda and Congrats Kenny and Frances!!! Another open showing scheduled today so hopefully we will join you all soon
So we are now officially South Dakotans! We did everything in a day, as everyone said you could.
Curt & Glenda & anyone else doing SD domicile,
had I known and I will let you know - bring cash for your registration if possible. They charge 3% to put it on any card - that was steep IMO. You will also need cash at the DMV for your license. MyDakotaAddress set up all the paperwork and it was a breeze - once your number was called, lol.
Anyway, this was another 'stage' in becoming full timing that I felt was so liberating. Getting those NY tags off felt so darn good. So the 'business' stuff is done much to my relief. Next on to Ft. Riley to see DH's son next week and then who knows what - which is the point!
Keep on rolling 2014 Dreamers!

Love it! South Dakota Linda.... doesn't have the ring to it like Liberty Linda does. Was there any one deciding factor for you that helped you choose SD intead of FL or TX?
From what I could find out, insurance was cheaper and my RN license by endorsement to SD was way easier than the other two states. Now if I could only get a job....lol.

Congrats to Curt and Glenda! I just realized I didn't mention that last time!
Also congrats to Linda and Scott on the next step in their journey!
Bill and I have taken a step this weekend by moving into our new home on wheels! I've been wanting to for a while - its hard moving stuff in fully while still living in the house, every time I would want to bring something I would have to ask "Is this going to be needed anytime soon!" The house is now about 90% empty so it was time - today we brought our number bed - so no more sleeping at the house. It is very strange indeed, but in a good way.
Just waiting now for an official mortgage commitment from our buyers (which my realtor heard from their lender should be by mid-week) and them Bill will give his employers "the news". I can't hardly wait!
Thanks to everyone for the support - means a lot to both of us!

Thanks Kelly....I know exactly how you feel right now. We were where you are just about 6 weeks ago. We had our garage sale and had sold most everything so it would be difficult to stay in the house so we moved the 5th wheel to a local RV park and moved in. Still had many trips back and forth from the house to the RV as we moved in. It is a seemingly never ending ordeal but it does come to an end. I promise It feels so good having just the 5th wheel to come home to now. Just over 2 more weeks of work and then on to SD for the DL's to make SD our official domicile. Looking forward to the fall rally. Curt
So excited about out mini reunion this weekend in the Poconos with Bill and Kelly, Cori and Greg, and Jo and Ben. Plus Eileen and Gene may stop by. Yeah class of 2014!!!
It looks like we will be graduating in 2014 after all. We just signed a contract and the closing and departure date is Nov 14th. I am incredibly grateful for all the support from everyone here. We made this decision a year ago and finally it's happening.
Much Love,
Trace
P.S. For those who are my facebook friends we are still keeping it quiet until Lee gives his final notice, but needed to share it with everyone here.
