Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
The good news: we closed on our house Monday and moved into our Motor Home full time. The bad news: We can only go to the nearest campground, because our new house is packed with the overflow from our old house. We hope to have it all put away or purged by the weekend and then take off for Colorado. We're leaving about three weeks later than we thought we would. So all in all not too bad.

Lol - when we closed on the house last month we had so much stuff shoved in the RV we couldn't even get back to the bathroom or bedroom! Had to park it at Walmart for the closing but after a couple of days we got everything in a place, all the cloths put away, and lots of little command strips and hangers to get everything organized! Now it's nice and cozy! Good luck with the unpacking and welcome home!!
Yep, Gene and Eileen, we did the same as you and Dwight & Vicki. Shoved it all in the RV then started organizing. It really didn't take long at all, so you'll be done before you know it. I don't know where you are going in Colorado, but the Denver area had a late-spring snowstorm a couple of weeks ago, so at least you avoided that :)

Thanks Red, we're heading to Ft. Collins. Eileen has a son there.
Kelly, the purging is going better than expected, we should be done in time for Thanksgiving!
Jo & Ben and Dwight & Vickie I thought we were the only ones to shove all the last minute stuff in the "new house". Glad we're not alone. Heard about the snow storm. Makes me happy we did't get to leave on time.
Debbie & Steve, how was your trip back to CA. Any glitches? How long did it take?
Trip back to CA was fun! Love the new truck and 5er! Very interesting weather. Visited friends and family along the way and made it back in time for our sons college graduation on the 16th! This weekend we will have a "real" campout with the trailer at a mountain lake nearby. Just relaxing with a little fishing and hiking. Only driving 45 miles instead of 2500!
Hooray Eileen and Gene ...so happy for you guys. Good luck with the purging Eileen or your can throw it all in storage and purge two years from now :). Maybe you can bring some of your sons art work to the reunion rally and we can all take a piece with us :)
Trace, I would love to give everyone a piece of my son's pottery or his teapots knowing that they would be a rememberance of new friends met along with our new life. Great idea. It will be much easier letting them go that way.
Although almost 2 weeks delayed, the buyers finally got their mortgage commitment today!!! Next step - confirming the closing date! Really getting close now!

Love the Happy Dance, Mike! I can't believe we've reached the time where you have one for ME!!! Looks like closing WILL be in 8 days -- on June 5th. They want it sooner, but at this point, I just don't think I can be ready and out of the house by then.

Congratulations Cheryl! I hope you're more ready than we were.
Nowhere near ready and in a total state of panic!!!
In reality, I'm probably a lot closer than I think. All my furniture is gone now and we're sleeping on an air mattress with our clothes in boxes (which will then be brought with us to the trailer). I guess still alot of Mitch's tools and supplies that he needs to weed through. And now everything is all over the house, so I guess the chaos is making me anxious and distorting things.
Yes, I will get through this. It should only be the worst problem I ever have in life, right?

Everything will be OK. You'll get through it. This reminds me of what the pastor said at our wedding rehearsal "no matter what happens, when you walk off this alter you'll be married".
We dropped the price today to our debt free price. This is on the high side of what the real estate agents at our recent open house said it would go for but $17,500 under what the house is appraised for. We can and will go lower if we get a serious offer but this price would allow us to payoff the house and the truck which is important because we cannot go on the road with either of those payments. Basically I am putting it in god's hands from this point forward. When/If we get an offer we can go from there.
Thanks to Texas Jo, Kelly, Cori, Pam, and Maine Jo for being such wonderfully supportive friends through all the craziness. Going to focus on my daughter graduating from high school, having a good summer in our seasonal site, and meeting up with some fellow rally attendees in PA at the end of July.
Also, Congratulations to Jo and Craig for signing a contract in 72 hours!!! VERY VERY happy for you guys.
We just completed our first ten days. Most of it was spent on the road from VA to Fort Collins, CO. Some observations. We found we preferred driving no more than 3-4 hours a day including rest breaks. It allows us to break camp at a reasonable hour and setup in time for happy hour. We also camped at a Walmart or a casino half the time. After driving everyday for a few days we would stay put for a couple of days just to relax and let our mail catch up with us. Except for a couple of campgrounds reliable Wifi was spotty at best. The people we encountered at Walmart were very nice. Driving in high winds can turn a pleasant drive into a "white knuckle" affair. Paying for gas was a problem. Only one station allowed me to fill up without multiple swipes of the credit card or trying to guess how much gas I was going to buy, and prepay that amount, then go back and put the correct amount on the credit card. MasterCard will only allow you to pump $75-$100 at a time, VISA will allow more. If you buy gas at a Walmat and pay for it with a Walmart gift card you can pump the full amount of the gift card without stopping and you get a $.10 per gallon discount. I wonder if that will work with other gift cards except for the discount. Most neighbors are very friendly, not all are considerate.
We took too much stuff! We took too much stuff! We like our new home.
We're in Ft. Collins for two weeks. We be at the Ft. Collins KOA for at least a week. We'll use it as a base to explore the area, maintenance and purge and rearrange our home on wheels. (The purging never ends!)
Yes, congrats Newhalls!! How exciting! Please keep us updated as we should be right behind you and would like all that newbie knowledge!! Our ranch goes on the market tomorrow.
Good luck with the sale of your house! I hope it sells fast and is a good experience for you.
Cheryl,
We were thinking of you a few days ago when we stayed at the Horseshoe Casino in Council Bluffs, IA. A tremendous storm came through with 40+ mph wind gusts and then golf ball size hail started coming down. We both remembered seeing photos of your truck from your blog and had visions of the same thing happening to our car. Eileen grabbed Max and got pelted as she jumped in our Honda Fit (which is getting 45 mpg!) and drove to the garage for protection. I stayed in the Vista like a captain going down with his ship! The wind had our house rocking and a rolling. The hail hitting the roof sounded like gun shots going off inside. When it was all over luckily we only had one dent in the front of the Fit. It could have been from the hail storm or road debris. The good news-Eileen won in the casino!
Congratulations on your house sell. Wish you both good-luck on your full timing. Send some mojoe our way we are still trying to sell our house. As many others in the 2014 mission.

So much happening!! It's been a whirlwind month or so for us, but we closed on our house on June 5th and after reading a few stories out there, truly grateful that we had a very smooth home sale process. Officially moved into our new home on wheels last Thursday and are hanging out at our seasonal site. Like the Newalls and Ben and Jo, we are going through the stage of organizing our last minute boxes of stuff that found their way on to the rig. Four more bags/boxes made it to Goodwill last weekend with a few more to go!! We also made two trips to the Container Store trying to organize chaos. Making progress, but lots more to go. In the middle of moving, Greg did three solar installs, which was awesome but somehow he missed out on some of the packing fun, hmmmm..... We did end up getting a storage unit and once we get really settled in our place, will tackle that. Ultimately, we just ran out of time, so this was a good short term solution that will allow us to go through stuff at our pace, and not the frantic pre-closing pace.
So....adjusting quite well to our new life and liking it a lot. Hoping for positive mojo for those selling their homes!! Happy days ahead!!
And of course Cheryl and I were SUPPOSED to close on June 5th.
It's now 8 business days, and we're now in Florida, waiting for $$$ to officially buy our rig...
Sigh, more mojo this way please??!

We are 'most-timing' in our local town park campground which is close enough for us to finish moving stuff, and finishing up our jobs. DH's last day is today. Mine is next week. We are awaiting official closing date- expected to be next week per the Realtor. I may have a drink before I go in ;) Anyway, I am not quite excited or thrilled, I am just waiting for the process of the sale to be finalized, then I think it will hit me. We are so very close~ after all this time planning, it is hard to believe the Dream is at our door step.
Best regards Class of 2014!
Prayers to the sellers still waiting~ :)

Well, the dream continues. Here we are on June 19th and the house closed today. The title company wired the money into my account so I wouldn't have to wait for the bank to clear a check before I could use the $$. I'm flying out Sunday AM to Mobile, AL to pick up our new home, a 2012 Allegro Bus! I'm driving it back to Idaho next week to move out of the old S&B place and into the RV.
Everyone who is waiting for this to happen...just keep thinking positive and looking to the future. It Will Happen for you too.
Meg and I are really looking forward to meeting all of you somewhere on the road.
Wow...we can't really believe it happened so fast.

Congrats! Our place has been on the market 1 week now. We are planning to head out fulltime on the 28th. I hope there still a bit of that 2014 mojo left for us! We can't wait to get out there! Enjoy yourselves!!
I haven't updated in a while, so might as well now. We have been on the market since April 4. Feels like FOREVER especially compared with how long (or not) others took to sell. Guess our area moves a bit more slowly, which is weird b/c I always thought that the northeast moved at a faster pace. Oh well, guess except for the housing market.
We have dropped our price twice - the first time was $5000 and the second time was $10,000 and after we had an appraisal done. Turns out we wasted 2 months being listed too high. House prices in our area are literally all over the place - even based on the appraisal report, I don't understand how he got the number he did, but it is what it is and we are now priced $5000 over the appraised value. I keep telling Bill - can't Tuesday morning quarterback, right? Move forward is all we can do.
So, tomorrow we have our first showing at the new price and Sunday an Open House. We shall see. I am getting some new flowers today for my front step pots and my day lilies are in full bloom and looking beautiful!
So, please say a prayer, have a good thought, send mojo - any positive energy sent our way is very much appreciated!
Thanks!
Kelly
P.s. been working on my blog a bit - if you haven't yet - please check it out and let me know what you think! Thanks!
Tried to access your blog but just get a blank page both by clicking on the link and typing it in myself........maybe a typo or the site is down?
Bummer on the slow sale. It is my worst fear for next year's launch but others have survived it so we will too!! Best of luck on the showing and open house - see multiple offers next week!!!!
