Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

any current opinions on Republic Wireless

The last post on an older thread about this company was by Jack Mayer in 2011.  The technology and service changes rather frequently in this field. I'm wondering if there are any more recent thoughts/opinions out there?

They use Sprint's network, therefore, for us, it would not be an option. Nationally, geographically, Verizon simply covers more ground. They roam on Sprint's roaming partner network, including Verizon, but many roaming partner agreements do not include data. Most smaller cellular companies do just fine their local areas, but not so much outside those areas.

It's all about coverage, and from looking at a few "discussions" on their website about coverage, they probably wouldn't meet the needs of most full-timers.

The lack of data while"roaming" definitely would a be serious limitation for FTing.  We currently use VZ cellular/mobile data share plan and like their service but loyalty is something I have begun to question when other operators can offer the same service without noticable difference for a fraction of the price especially when we are still in a S&B for another 5 years.  We are also looking at the Straight-Talk deal also.

Just looking at all options.  Thanks Howard, for the feedback.

I just bought a Straight Talk Portable Hot Spot for $79.99. I am trying the 2GB for $25.00; it works with a phone # and I can use my old 4" tablet on the go. Seems to work better than the WIFI that the RV park offers and shows a good Coverage area. I use the parks then when it goes haywire i switch to the Hotspot.

Would that include flying RV's ala "the jetsons"??biggrin

Seriously, just looking into ways to slash current expenses. More money saved now=less debt or more reserves or more RV later.
