Alltho I am limited on this subject.....anything that is 4G is only good in high populated areas that have 4G coverage and that is limited at this time

as far as Iphone nationwide would be Verizon plans or the Iphone plan from walmart at this time.....lots of homework on this one.......

I guess it is going to depend on your travels......I will say if your planning on internet Milinicom has the best deal hands down (They use Verizon system) ...cant beat the price/coverage and gigs for the money!!!!!

Check the maps from Verizon for there 4G service. Its wider than you think. We use the Millinicom MIFI on the Verizon network and have pleased so far. Even here in south Texas.

After years of planning we are finally going on the road when I retire in March! From the posts I have read I think that we will be going with the Millenicom plan for internet (ipad and laptop). My question is what would be the cheapest plan for cell phones. We would only be using them for talk/text. I currently have an iphone but want to keep our monthly costs down. Thank you!!!

depending on where you travel.....Walmart plan (Verizon) 45.00 per month unlimited.......Tracfone ...Safety plan 7.00 per month

Yup, the cheapest iPhone plan - if you have a clear ESN on your iPhone (ie. it's no longer under contract), the StraightTalk plan is very appealing.

We keep ours on a AT&T mobile share plan with 5 family members - and end up paying about the same per phone as StraightTalk, but get 10GB of tetherable data a month to use. We find AT&T to be a very worthwhile carrier to have in our arsenal to compliment the Millenicom Verizon hotspot plan. Verizon is great in most areas, but sometimes AT&T is just better in some areas. Straighttalk does not include hotspotting/tethering on their plans, and they throttle data usage after about 2.5 GB of use.

Some info to share. One of my family members was searching for a phone plan. We were told truck drivers were carrying two phones, 1 AT&T and One Verizon phone. Today they carry one Wal-Mart Straight Talk Service, and have constant service as they travel. What ever it might be worth, good luck.

We have been using straight talk for years and are very pleased. We both have AT&T iPhones which are straight talk compatible.

You said you have AT&T iphones and use straight talk. I thought Straight talk used the Verison network?

Straight Talk uses AT&T and Verizon Networks......it will depend on the phone and area your in when activated.

Mike is right. Before we got our iPhones we had different phones with straighttalk and they were on Verizon. In our area the iPhones use the Att network. Go on straight talk and you have to search a little, but you can find out what phones use what network. i do know in the past you could not use a Verizon iPhone on staight Talk because they so not have sim cards. The Att ones do have sim cards, thus why they are compatible.

Tracfone & Net10 are also on the verizon & ATT network........I keep a Tracfone as a private Medical Emergency phone and it is on the Verizon network....(less than 7 bucks a month !)

We used to use an Android cell on Sprint network, but found it useless in many areas we traveled. I liked the Android, but was glad to get rid of the $88/mo bill. Now, we both have Tracfones (double minute) on one of their family plans that adds minutes monthly for about $17.50/mo total. Since we don't use them much, we have lots of time/minutes built up. I can shut off the auto reload for a few months of the year and save even more.
We grab wifi so many places that we've found little use for a hotspot device/plan so far (subject to possible change soon). Most of the calls we make are only friendly chat, so while on a wifi, we use G00gle Voice for free calls all over the country and Canada (all 1+ numbers).
The greater part of our communications with friends and relatives is done by email and social networks.

Since I'm currently looking to online incomes, I might opt for a Millenicom plan which seems to be the best even with the upcoming price increase next month.

From what I've read...Millenicom prorates your first month. Out of pocket start up expenses will be less toward the end of the month.

Now, I just have to figure out what a tech challenged old guy can do online to justify the budget addition.
