Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Medicare Drug Plan Question

Hello,  Well I will have Medicare come January which makes it possible for my hubby to retire then, whoppie!  Then we can put the house on the market and get this FT plan on the road.

I am researching Drug plans and my question is what to make sure a plan has so I can get my Rx drugs on the road.  We are thinking of just picking them up at a Walmart, Walgreens etc rather than having them mailed to our SD legal address and then sent to us.  What does a plan need to state to be able to pick up RX at any city in that national chain?

Do you do your RX scripts that way or what?  I of course want to get the best rate but still be sure to get my meds as I take 7-9 of them a day (sarcoidosis and RA are the main chronic dx) and cannot miss them.

Thanks much.

Thanks Lucky Mike,  Does your plan say nationwide availability?  Can you tell me the name of the plan you have - Humana or Cigna or AARP etc?

I don't have Medicare yet; my private plan is with United Healthcare. To get the drug discounts, we need to use CVS, but I think the nationwide ability is from CVS, not the health plan.

Sorry......I dont carry a plan I pay as I fly and carry a perscription plan discount thru walgreens.....I do know that the scripts are honored nationally ......I asked before I transferred my scripts to them if it would cause a problem and they told me that the scripts are on there national data base and billed thru the chain store you claim as your home base.

I keep my home base in the town that my Doctors practice so there is no questions

Use to get them from Walmart and called to have them transferred. Now I use the VA healthcare system! Not much help. I have seen discounts on prescriptions by doing a web search. The only problem with that is third party advertisers flood your emails. PIEERE

Thanks to you guys but I am looking to get a Medicare D plan and want to make sure it allows me to get my scripts at any location of a chain like any Walgreens. But to have that chain be covered by my Medicare D plan.

But I will check into what it would cost me to use Walgreen's discount plan instead. What I am looking at now would be $12.60 a month premium with a deductible of $310. Then you pay a co insurance dependent on the level of the drug. Small co pay of $3 to $12 every 90 days.

In California, Walgreens advertises excepting Part D from Medicare. You might want to call them.

I have a Part D plan through Aetna administered by CVS which can be filled anywhere there is a CVS. I used the Medicare website to do a search for the best plan for me based on the drugs I use. It came up with this plan as the least expensive cost per year. My wife uses a different plan from Humana because she does not take any maintenance drugs and that plan was cheaper for her unless she has some serious issues requiring increased prescriptions.

I believe I can even use a different supplier if I could not find a CVS but it would cost more.
