Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
After reading Howard and Linda's account of hiking the Wave, it became a must-see on our list of places to go. However, after reading this article, we decided to do it the way they did....show up and take our chances as a walk-in.....in cool weather.
A favored western writer of mine, Louis L'Amour, used to write in his books that those that were the pioneers and early travelers in the west would stop occasionally and look back towards the direction that they had traveled. That way, they could watch for any possible dangers behind them, but more so to be able to see the landmarks behind them so they would know what to recognize should they have to return that way.
Any time that I've talked with folks that are in new areas, even within cities, I advise the same thing. Back about a year ago, there was a couple that had parked their fifth wheel in an RV park and had driven into town to see some local attraction. When they went to leave and go back to their truck, they couldn't find it. The story is here on my blog, and there is a link in the first paragraph of the story that goes to the news story.
The point of all this is to always be aware of everything around one's route so as to not have a similar experience. That was spoken of in the news story by Vance when it said they had problems finding their way back.
