Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

One Year Heart Attack Survivor on the 6th of April!!!

biggrinbiggrin I took my last two puffs on a cigarette the early AM of the 30th of March; the day of my Heart Attack. I am now a reformed Smoker. My one yr. anniversary of the heart attack was the same day; but my survivor date is the 6th of April as this was my release day from TJ Samson Community hospital in Glasgow; Ky by Dr. Venkatta Reddy who performed a PCI and inserted three stents in my broken heart.

When I went back in May for an appointment I stopped into the Cardio Unit of ICU. First I went to the gift shop and bought a beautiful bouquet of flowers for the ICU team. When I approached the nurses station; the nurse who spent much time with me was on duty. I tapped her on the shoulder and when she turned around and seen I was there; I recieved the biggest hug and tears of joy came from both our eyes. I took the bouquet from behind that I was holding with my other hand and had her call a few other nurses to come to the desk. I then gave the bouquet to them and said to them; "Thank you for assisting and saving my life!" there were many expression of joyful emotions that day.

This came across my mind today and thought it would be an ideal time to post it to my forum family. confusesmile Wanted to let every one know how grateful I am for all emergency responders who rush to help us; even though most of us are complete strangers!!! May God Bless them and keep them safe in our hours of need. Pieere

Congratulations on the anniversary, but even more so, BIG KUDOS for taking flowers to the nurses.  I imagine that they appreciate having a former patient come back to see them.

Good job, Ed.

I had a quad bypass in 1998 but It took me till last year to quit smoking. I quit on Feb. 18 2012, right near your quit time.

Feels great doesn't it? I can't believe that after 45 years I finally put them down!

Congrats to you!!

Happy Dance in your honor. Keep up the good work. Know you will follow all the doctors orders, most of the time anyway.

Way to go Pieere. Nothing quite like recovering from a heart attack. My first one was on Memorial Day 2004. Playing volley ball with a bunch of young people. Thank goodness one was a trauma nurse. She jumped on my chest until the ambulance got there. The second was July 4 5 years later. Walked into the ER that time. Crushing pain started right after they laid me on the gurney. I begged for morophine. Now I have holidayaphobia. I tend to tense up on every holiday.

Ed, I haven't read too many posts on this part of the forum, so happy to read this one.

My Dad had a quadruple bypass 4 months before your heart attack, he could take lessons from you in the "attitude adjustment" department. I come from a long line of relatives with heart issues and while I'm sorta young "mid 40's" you give me hope as I try to avoid the pitfalls of those in my family who are older than I.

biggrinbiggrin Speaking of Attitude adjustments; if it wern't for the support from this forum; my attitude would take a dive. The compassion and conversations kept me from falling in to despair; when things go awry. It is very hard on people who have health setbacks which prevent them from being the person they use to be. I keep telling myself 'I will be better than I was before because my health was failing me and now I am healing both physically; mentally and spiritually.' Avoiding the pitfall; may be as simple as watching the diet; my cardiologist stated that everything in moderation; watch the sodium intake and saturated fats and sweets.

I am not sure if this will make you feel better or not. Last night I went to visit the former owner of the company who built my RV. He just survived heart attack #4. They put a pacemaker in this time around. he says the worst thing is walking into the hospital & telling them he just had a heart attack. They always assume its angina until he tells them he has had 3 before and knows how they feel.
