Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
February 23, 2013 is our target date to "hit the road" in our new Sprinter. Barring any "bad weather" here in the mid-Atlantic state, we hope to take a route a.r.o.u.n.d. D.C./Baltimore. Driving in that maze of on-off ramps makes me ka-ra-zee, even in a car!! I was looking at heading south on I-83 down to Staunton, VA and then I-64 over to Richmond, then the rest of the way on I-95. Does anyone have any other good ideas for a route? I do hate driving in a lot of rush-rush traffic....and I'm only in my late 50's! This will be the first time we have ever towed anything, so I am pretty anxious about it. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
We just bought the Rand-McNally Road Mate at the PA RV Show in September, and are still learning how to use it. I still consult the trusty maps though.
Always consult your maps First.....then during. GPS is a wonderful tool...but if you trust it to think for you , please fasten your seatbelt and buy alot of rolaids!!!!!
they have been known to send you towards low bridges ......closed roads.....restricted highways , and in a few severe instances....off cliffs and into lakes.
pre planning your trip on paper or having AAA or one of the many clubs do it for you is a must........being familiar with where you are going is going to go a long way when you question why the little box said go left.........
I prefer 83 thru the Shenandoah valley.....beautiful thru there easy fuel and quick stops.....and most of all leisure traffic!!!!!!!!!
I make it a special point to drive 4 hours out of my way so I dont have to see...."welcome to Boston and welcome to Virginia and anything to do with I95 and the hell in ...between!!!!!!!
I decided like you to take the RV and relax........80 miles an hour in bumper to bumper traffic where directionals are optional is not my idea of relaxing......not to mention my Cardiologist Frowns upon it when I tell him!!!!!

Hit a Big empty parking lot, spend some time backing up and making turns, you will pick it up in no time.....have a great trip.....
Thanks Genecop...will do. We've even invested in those orange cones. The CG manager at Jekyll said our lot will be a bit tight (may not even be able to put our awning out), so practice will be a good thing.
