Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Michigan to Louisiana any good places to over night stay?

The DH and I are heading to Louisiana for the winter as we have a workamping gig there.

This is our first big trip with our rig since going fulltime in May, anyone have any travel tips
or any good overnight suggestions from Michigan to Louisiana?

I suspect you are looking for free overnight spots but Tom Sawyer's in West Memphis is a great full hookup campground that could be on your route. From your RV you can watch the barges on the Mississippi River.  Website - http://www.tomsawyersrvpark.com/ , reviews - http://rvparkreviews.com/regions/Arkansas/West_Memphis.html .

you don't say what route you will be taking but we found a nice park in Florence, Alabama. Mcfarland Park is city owned and has a nice campground with paved, pull through, full hook up sites right on the river. We stayed a week and enjoyed seeing the area and watching the barges travel up and down the river. The price was right too, $18.00 per night or $15.00 for seniors and handicapped.

I am trying to figure out how we will be going now actually, what the best route will be.

It appears after checking my maps and google maps that we will be be taking I57 and I55 down.
We are heading to Duson Louisiana and have to be there by October 4th.

We want to only travel about 300 miles and/or 6 hours per day or there abouts.

Where I-57 meets I-55 is Sikeston, Missouri, where the original Lambert's Cafe, Home of the Throwed Rolls, is, http://www.throwedrolls.com/ .  We have eaten at the other two Lambert's locations and can recommend them for a fun stop and good food.  We have no idea of campgrounds in Sikeston.   You could also stop for lunch.
I would recommend going south to at least US24 to head west to I-57 to avoid Chicago metro, but suspect you are catching I-57 further south than I-80 or you would be taking I-55 all the way.

Oh cool, I always wanted to try that place!! Saw it on Good Eats one time and thought that would be a fun place to eat!

Good plan on avoiding Chicago Metro, I am definatly going to get around that then all I have to worry about I think is
Memphis and Baton Rouge???

In order to miss Chicago, Google maps has me taking US30 with a merge onto I57 so hopefully that won't get to hectic.

Keep the suggestions coming for our trip, it really helps alot!

Ok, so here is what I have figured out for places to stay so far on our trip to Louisiana:

Off Exit 280 (I57) Lake Arrowhead Campground (This is our first night stay)

Exit 4 off (I55) Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Campground (second night stay)

And I am looking for a place to stay somewhere in the middle of Memphis AK and Jackson MS..any ideas?
