Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Sitting on the dock of the bay.......

You know the tune, sittin' on the dock of the bay......Well, here we are sittin' on the side of the road watching the traffic roll away.....
and waiting for the tow truck! Crap. First tow truck arrives and it's the wrong one so another hour on the road before we watch our baby head down the road. We then jumped in our van to find a dead battery and the tow guys are driving away! Crap X 2.
Luckily, when we first pulled over someone called 911 to tell them that a motorhome was on fire (sure looked that way with all the smoke). A trooper arrived shortly to see if we were OK. He then headed to the Casino for lunch and on one of his trips back up the highway he found us stranded. What luck. A quick jump start and we are now sitting in the service center in Indianapolis, IN watching the tide roll away.

We have a blown turbo which is an easy (but not cheap) fix as long as none of the metal shaving from the fan when inside and damaged the engine.  Looks like a hotel room for us tonight but the service center has already looked at it so we are off to a good start.

BIG Ouch! We'll keep our fingers crossed for you that it's not anymore serious ($$$$$) than it already is!

Nice meeting both you and Janet at the rally. Maybe we'll see you down the road one day. Thanks for taking the time to come over and visit on Tuesday.

Safe travels.

They don't have the necessary part (of course) so the part will come in on Wednesday before repairs can begin. It's never good timing but we have/had a customer waiting for us in Holland, MI whom we were supposed to install tomorrow. Hope he can wait a couple of days. They are going to just do the turbo since there are no chunks missing from the blades. The blades did get "sanded down" a bit so at least some metal entered the engine. We just have to hope it wasn't enough to make any difference.

A blown turbo can sure put out a bunch of white smoke (as those folks behind you found out)!  Hope you can get a good repair job and be on your way quickly, Bill.

Thanks. Hopefully the new turbo will fix it and we can be on our way.

So sorry to hear of your troubles.  Thank goodness you two are safe.  I hope you get back on the road soon.

If only they had had the part they were going to work on us during the overnight shift and we would have been on our way. Great folks here in Indianapolis at Clark Power in case you are in the area and need help.
It was strange how this happened, we had spent the night a the casino in Shelbyville, IN (good overnight dry camping if you are passing through the area). We left there without issue and make it about 5 miles down the road when we can to a construction zone and slowed to 45 for about 1 mile. When we went to accelerate....no power!
Now, we get to hang out in Indianapolis and wait for those nasty storms headed directly at us instead of making it to Holland, MI where it is snowing. Hum, when you say that out load it doesn't sound like either of our travel options were very good!
