Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Actually, we returned the afternoon of Aug 16th, but have been enjoying retirement too much to get online. I would recommend a trip like ours at least once in your lifetime. It was absolutely fantastic!!!! We live in a great country.
Total mileage- 10,172 doorstep to doorstep...27 states traveled through and/or visited...40 days and 40 nights and I didn't have to lift one saw to build an ark, though the first part of the trip I was beginning to wonder, rain began July 12th in MT and we carried it through until August 6th in WV.
Average MPG- 9.647 (Chevy 3500HD towing Colorado 28RK)
Average price per gallon of Diesel - $2.689 Best price was on US20 just inside the OH border from IN. $2.369. Worst price was VT just before MA on I-95 $2.919
My daughter is tired of Corn fields.............The east coast if far too humid for this time of the year. Forgot how much I sweated in NC back in the Marines. I was glad Boston, Swedesboro, NJ, and Washington, DC could refresh our memories.....
We had a lightning strike about two doors down in the RV park in Billings, MT; then the next day a small tornado touched down to our immediate Left about a mile or two out from us on I-90 as we were just a half hour from getting into Spearfish, SD with nowhere to go off the FWY for cover.
On the way back, in Limon, CO... a Huge Tstm came up in the middle of the night 2 AM and set off the tornado sirens.....oh BTW for anybody who's never been out to Limon, CO.....it's an extension of western Kansas......FLAT!!!!!!!!!! turned on the weather channel and the entire area is covered in RED and YELLOW
Out of all of the trip, Saturday the 15th, just after filling up about 40 miles outside of Las Vegas on I-15; we had a blowout on the front right of the 5th wheel. Now I viewed the MICHELIN video about RV blowout events....NEVER felt it...........no sway, no drag....had a car pull up beside us and had to motion that we were messed up...GO CHEVY!!!!! I don't know if that was a bad thing or a good thing...but it added another 3.5 hours to our day. Thank god for GoodSam roadside assistance, purchased for the trip......
All in all fantastic and glad to be back on the left coast....now for a little maintenance on the Colorado and then we're going up to WA for the fall foliage.....and clamming season....
Later...
