Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Travel Plans and Impending weather

We are planning to travel to Arkansas during the first two weeks of January and then return to New Mexico.  The weather can change quickly on the I-40 west during this time of the year and we were wondering what limits you would place on weather conditions sufficient to keep you parked for a few more days.  Snow, Ice, impending storm, overnight freezing rain, what would say head for the southern route or just stay put for a couple of days.

What is your question?  If it is staying put for all the above  (snow, ice, etc. then I would stay over a few more days.  We have traveled I-40 many many times (living in N.M. for 12 yrs) and just would not want to chance it with towing a heavy rig. Keep ck on the weather ahead and I would suggest the Southern route. Lots of black ice can be a problem. JMO

As Judy said, we would not travel in any of those conditions. This is our home we are moving down the road, and I don't want it to end up in a ditch or in an accident.

Whenever we plan a trip, we will add 1 or 2 days a week to our planned trip time. If I thought there might be snow or ice on the route, I would definitely take the southern route. If we don't need the added days, we'll just stay at one of our stops along the way longer.

This is another reason that we don't make reservations. We just don't know where we will be on any given day. So far, we've always found a place to park for the night.smile
