Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We left Las Cruces on May 21st for the summer out in our fifth wheel. We had a great 3 weeks in Cloudcroft NM even after a week of camping with our 3 oldest grandchildren.
After spending a couple of days at Manzano State Park and then a couple of days in Taos shopping we headed for Red River.
We had plan to go to the Red River Encampment in Red River, NM. It started on June 22. So we arrived at Elephant Rock NF camp ground 3 miles away on June 18. On June 20 we traveled 40 miles to the closest hospital in Taos, NM where we entered the ER and was told Jacki was going straight to surgery to have her appendix removed. After surgery and “things went well”. Jacki was released on Friday evening 6/22. She was re-admitted on Monday 6/25 and went back into surgery on 6/26 to deal with an infection. Finally after3 days things are looking better. She will be in the Holy Cross Hospital in Taos, NM for at least several more days. The plan is as soon as I’m clear from the Dr.s we will head north to Colorado for the rest of the summer. We hope to be in Pagosa Springs by July 15. The moral of this story is to stay flexible and never think it can't happen to you.

Your good attitude will carry you through. Health issues, breakdowns, family problems, and other issues can slow us down and alter our plans, but if you have a good attitude about it things go better.
Good luck and we are thinking about you.

We never know what we will "run" into while on the road with health issues, but hope Jacki that you will so be back travel'n again. Southwestjudy & Bob & 2blackdogs
We have been out of the hospital since Monday. Nurse Larry did his first wound dressing change without a hitch. Patient Jacki is much more comfortable in her "camping house." Thanks for all of the kind words and well wishes. We have reservations and will meet the family in Pagosa Springs on July 15. Taos entertained us with a great fireworks display right out our front door last night. People have been so kind.
It seems that other forum members are having a great summer. Ours has been great too considering the circumstances. Even thought it is warm is Taos it has been 100+ in Las Cruces. We will enjoy the rest of the summer in a different way but we will not be hiking, biking, and kayaking. Maybe by Fall.
Thanks, Larry and Jacki

Just thought we should update. We made it to Pagosa Springs and stayed for two weeks. Jacki was able to do some easy trails but we walked daily and hiked for a couple of 4 mile round trips. Larry and family members did a couple of short kayak trips in the very shallow San Juan and also to a few trips tubing much to Jacki's chagrin. She is the water person. We wandered back south to Cloudcroft and spent ten days in the cool and hiked several 3 and 4 mile trails before heading back to Las Cruces to take care of some chores. Yuk! We are heading back to Cloudcroft and 9000 ft ASAP. Jacki continues to improve and strengthen. She is almost healed and hopes to soon be back in the water and on the bikes.
Hope you all had a good summer. We did in spite of serious health problems. It is all about attitude.

We are back in Las Cruces for a few days. Jacki is doing great and we hit the trails regularly in Cloudcroft making several mountain difficult treks longer than 8 miles.
Now we are thinking about getting back to the kayak at least on a lake and some level cycling as she gets back into shape. Of course I stayed in shape during the recovery, (sure).

Its good to hear Jacki is doing better. Even I could not do 8 miles or less so keep up the good work. We will be heading back to the Land of Enchantment in about a month....cannot wait. southwestjudy & Bob & 2blackdogs
