Stove Covers
(Preview)
I've searched here in this thread and didn't see anything on this. My question is: Do you keep your stove cover on, so you can use it for traveling or do you just take it off and store it? Frankly it is a pain in my behind to keep opening and closing it, and when it's open then I can't get to my knves or spice r...

Availability of organic foods
(Preview)
Living alone and eating smallish size portions, I buy organic meats, dairy & produce. I also cook just about everything from scratch, so I don't buy many processed foods at all (the exception being my Jif Peanut Butter & Wheat Thins!). I'm used to shopping at a local food co-op, plus Earth F...

peanut butter marshmallows

I just have to share my peanut butter marshmallow recipe. It's certainly not exclusive to RVing....could be done in a regular kitchen or over a campfire. No matter where you do it, be sure to invite me! Melt 1/2 cup peanut butter and 2 tablespoons butter in a pot. Stir in a bag of large marshmallows....

If you haven't heard of Evert-Fresh Green Bags, they are a reusable storage bag for fruits and vegetables that will extend the life of your produce by 3 to 10 times longer. And they really work! When planning as a current "wannabe" for our FTRVing, I originally thought that the Green Bags...

Suburban Ovens
(Preview)
Have of you, who have Suburban gas ovens, had problems with these ovens? We have had ours worked on twice and now will be going in for the third time. It is extremely difficult to light and and then goes out completely in the middle of baking. We are so frustrated with it, we are ready to have it ripped out.

Toaster Oven
(Preview)
How many of you use a toaster oven instead of a regular toaster that just handles bread and pastries? What kind do you use and why do you like it? A toaster oven seems to make more sense as it handles a variety of foods. Like warming a slice of my DW's home-made apple pie

I just bought a Food Saver...should I keep it?
(Preview)
After reading numerous posts on numerous forums, I bought a Food Saver at Costco yesterday. I haven't opened the box yet. I guess I'm still trying to justify purchasing it. I've gotten along just fine with ziploc bags all these years and probably could continue to do so. The only purchas...

Saving Money on Prescripion Eyeglasses

A few days ago I came across an article in the Chicago Tribune about several web sites that permit you to order prescription glasses. The cost savings are mind boggling. I saved $150 over the price at Costco. Wow. Rather than make this a plug for a specific company, if you go to glasseyes.blogspot.com y...

Protecting Walls From Kitchen Grease

Does anyone have any ideas for ways to protect the walls around the stove from spattering grease? Several reps I've asked have suggested mounting plexiglass over the wallpaper, however in a previous rig we tried standing plexiglass along the side wall and it melted! It would be...

Slow Cookers
(Preview)
A couple years ago I succumbed to marketing pressures and bought my DW a new slow cooker. That was mistake #1. Mistake #2 was selling the old crock potcooker that worked very, very well. Mistake #3 was replacing the second (read lousy) slow cooker with a high tech looking unit from Cuisinart that imm...

Glass dishes vs plastic/corelle

I have been trying to decide which kind of dishes to bring with us. We are going to be full-timing as soon as we sell our house. I love to cook and I love dishes. I know I can't bring all my dishes with me, (I have 6 or 7 sets of dishes). My question is which kind of dishes do you use. Plastic, Corelle, Glass or pa...

Today was an awesome day of starting to actually buy some of the 'wish list' items for our motorhome. Since we are 6-days and counting from picking it up, we figured we better start down the list. I guess we are realizing this is actually going to happen!! We have our eye on this grill at Lowe...

I am not sure if this is the right category for this question, but I was wandering if they make good efficient wine coolers for RVs. I have recently become fascinated with Dutch Oven Cooking! I have a couple of questions.
