Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
After reading Howard's journal today, I wondered if they make tie-downs for RVs that you can use in areas that are prone to high winds...like out West. I don't know how hard they would be to apply and use??
How many of you guys use the tri-pod stablizer thing that you put under the hitch on fifth wheels? Do they help?

I consider this website, Howard and Linda, and everyone in this RV community a blessing. One day in the future(about 6years!) Tom and I will be living our RV dreams like most of you all!
Tom, we have never used the tripod but I have installed a set of stabilizer bars I made. Takes the rock out of the trailer and is easy to set up. Plus you don't have to find a place to store the tripod. There are a couple of people making the stabilizers now. JT strongarms and Plugitright. Prices vary from $289 to $500 plus install.
Although I own a motor coach now I owned a couple of 5ers before. I defintly used the king pin tripod. The main thing we gained from it was stability when walking around in the 5er. It really does help to stabilize the unit. We had tried all kinds of wheel chocks and nothing worked as well as the king pin support. I always felt that it took some wear and tear from the front jacks as well.
I never saw any tie downs for an RV, awnings yes, but nothing for the entire rig.
