Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Although we have not yet been there and do not plan to boondock we are planning a trip there....as right now we are in a campground about an hr. from there. I was wondering if any of the readers can give us some insight to this place that we hear so much about. From talking to others here in the campground they say its crazy with so many ppl but a must visit at least once. The snowbirds (most of them anyway) will be there in Jan. for all the swap meets.
We visited Q last January and met all the folks from the Graduating Class of 2005. Even though we were only able to stay 3 days, we had a blast.
The RV show runs around the last week of January. You can get more info from the two great guys that have the website Fulltime.HitchItch.com. They have a 5th wheel and currently are at Q now, they return every year for most of the winter. A great website, you can get answers to all you questions there.
We did boondock in the La Posa South Long Term Visitor Area (LTVA) just about a mile south of town. It cost $30 (cash, no charge cards accepted) for a 14 day stay, there are other really reasonable costs for longer, seasonal stays, too. Even though we stayed 3 days, it was still a bargain. You drive out into the desert on solid dirt roads and pull off where ever you want and make camp. There is water and a dump station available but get there early if you need to use them, the lines are long and the hours are mostly normal business hours. Trash dumpsters are also located near the water/dump stations. The only downside we noticed was it was somewhat dusty, so pull as far off the road as you can so passing vehicles that raise dust won't bother you.
You'll see thousands upon thousands of RV's all over the desert, every type and kind you can imagine, from multi-million dollar rigs to homebuilt, recycled school buses. Despite all the RV's the areas are so big, you will find all the room you could ever want. You decide how close or far you want to camp from civilization.
The flea markets are a hoot, all kinds of things are available, plus the RV show in the huge (really huge) tent is awesome. You can buy all kinds of RV parts and upgrades and get them installed by trained techncians while you are there. There are alot of RV's for sale, too by several dealers.
We look forward to returning again, and staying alot longer. We found it was pretty cool at night, but by noon, we were wearing shorts. Enjoy the incredible sunrises and sunsets and stars like you won't believe.
Best Regards!

As Paul says, its a great place! We stayed about 7 weeks and loved it. The tent time is trying as all the traffic is a mess but all the places to shop and the whole atmosphere is enjoyable we thought. When Paul was there with us we are 3 miles back off the road. That was a long way, after our rally ended we moved up front and was about 1/4 mile from the road and about the same from the dump station and water. I can't wait to go back, except it will be for much more time when we do. For sure a must do one time thing. :)
Well today we got to the famous town of Quartsite!!! WOW what a place, everything one could ever want and the amazing thing is these huge tents are set up right off the rvs...we are only 17 miles from there and JUST know I have to go back again. The snowbirds arent even there yet they will be there after the holidays.
It's Great isn't it? Wait till the last few days before the show begins. They are streaming in 24 hours a day. Unbelievable how many people show up at the last minute and then 2 days afterwards back to normal! I loved it there and can't wait to go back! You are lucky. :)
If you don't want to boondock, there is a nice RV park east of Quartzsite in Brenda called Black Rock RV Village. They had a free bus that would take you in to Quartzsite and pick you up so you didn't have to worry about parking and all the traffic. It was a really nice park too!
