Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Jerry and I are about to purchase a motorhome to fulltime. After reseaching we have decided to look for a 2003+ used diesel pusher. The brands that seem to have good service support are Newmar and Tiffin. Anyone out there want to give us some advise????
There seems to be mixed reviews on Monoco products, but the salesman at the dealorship here has Newmar, Tiffin and Monoco. He said their buyers were very happy with Monoco also. Any input would be great. I am going to purchase that RV review package, I can't remember the name, but it's the one that costs $100+. We will be purchasing in the next two months. I would appreciate any feedback or advise.
The 2 choices so far are excellent. We have a Monaco(Safari) product and we have been very pleased with their service and the rig.
I would also look at Rv'ers online. This is their LINK. They are in the process of buying their second motorhome, a western brand, and have detailed their thoughts and decisions. It seems as if even RV's are somewhat regionalized. Alpine and Western RV are little heard of in the east, and Tiffin is not as widely known in the west. Country Coach is an Oregon Brand but pretty widely known.
We have visited the Newmar and Monaco factories and were impressed by both.
Mike

I think both Tiffin and Nemar are excellent choices, and Monaco is a pretty good quality rig, also. I thing you are wise to choose a late model DP and reap the benefit of the previous owner taking the depreciation hit.
Remember that there is no trouble free MH, they all will have little (and sometimes) big technical problems. Preventative maintenace is key to a good RVing experience. Check to see if the previous owner has any records showing what and when required maintenace items were performed. When you make your purchase, I'd recommend a full oil, grease, filter changeout so you have a baseline to start your own maintenance program.
Keep up on all the little things that go wrong so you nip them in the bud before they can turn into a bigger problem.
Everything I've read and seen about Tiffin and Newmar shows they stand behind their products. So it's up to you to choose carefully, find a clean, well maintained rig and enjoy. Expect to find some bugs right up front so you won't be surprised.
Best Regards!
