Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
About 10 days ago, I stumbled onto the daily email, via one of the 5thwheel forums and I signed up....didn’t even know abut the forum web site until todays email and telling folks to introduce themselves. Sure glad I found your emails, as I do enjoy reading about your travels, what you’re doing etc...I write a journal of sorts when we travel but only for my email friends, and not near as well as yours.
I am most interested in you education on your Garmin nuvi 350 GPS with one question, would you buy it again? OK 2 questions, if not what would you purchase next time.
This is supposed to be an introduction of us so here goes.
I retired in April of 2001 and was in the process of moving from Las Vegas to Houston area. It was then we decided to live full time in a new 2000 Newmar Mountainaire 40ft diesel pusher for 3 years. Every time I stopped had a new problem with the Motor Home. So we sold the MH in early 04, bought a sticks and bricks home and now after 2 ½ years yearn to travel again.
I spent 20+ years active duty Army and then spent 20+ years as an Air Force civilian.
Just purchased a 06 36TK3 Mobile Suite and have ordered a 07 F350 Ford, Dually with the tow boss (4.3) axel ratio, needed that truck as a minimum to pull this heavy 5th wheel. We have never pulled a 5th wheel, but figure it cant be that hard....lots of folks are doing it. I didn’t want to go to the med or heavy duty trucks... the dually is bad enough. I already refer to it as my BAD (Big Ass Dually) truck and we don’t even have it yet.
Currently married to my high school sweetie....we were engaged in 1959 but got married in 1989. Yes there is a long story there but will not go into now. Together we have 4 kids and 9 grand children and a 10th on the way. Everyone lives here in the Houston area except one kid and 4 grandkids that live in Washington State. Family is the ONLY reason we live in the Houston area, it is not that pretty of a place compared to the rest of the USA. Many other places in Texas are very nice...just that Houston seems to be lots of traffic, lots of humidity, and lots of miles of roads. Actually we live in Pasadena, a suburb of Houston. but tell someone Pasadena and they say, Oh California!!
Hope to see you down the road someday.

I have to agree, Houston is not a place to retire, the weather=too hot and humid, the traffic= runs a close second to LA. The nice thing for us ,is that you can drive for 4hrs and be in the hill country, which is a great place to find a camping sanctuary
