Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hello everyone, I have been reading the rv-dreams journal for many months. We hope to start traveling part time in 2007. DH is in education and I am in nursing. I am planning to retire in 5/07., hope DH follows soon. We have a 2002 35' 5th wheel Montana that is presently parked in a state park on a lake. We have camped on and off for about 20 yrs. I would like to full time, DH does not. Hope to meet you someday on the road.

Hey guys, I grew up "camping" and taking vacations, we used tents, pop-ups, travel trailers. There was always something special about it. Even back then I thought of spending more time in our camper. As a young adult I pulled away from the family a bit and camping as well. In late 1999 one of my freinds asked if I would like to go camping. I kind of smiled and without thinking about it said yes. We had a wonderful time and began doing it regularly. Then he asked us about investing in a travel trailer - well we were hooked! We got a used Winnebago travel trailer and loved it. We had so much fun in that and I was impressed with the quality of the camper as well. Then we got a class c motor home (not a winne), and while it wasn't that bad it wasn't the camper we had in the winne. So I've been on the hunt for a winne ever since and recently purchased a 1997 Winnebago Vectra (Grand Tour edition) Which has everything on it. I also moved this past October 31st from Cleveland, Ohio to the St. Petersburg, Florida area. After doing some research I've found it will be less expensive to live full time in my motor home here in Florida than any other type of home. I may travel full time eventually but for now it's living and working here in St. Pete. If i can get several streams of income going from the RV that will free me up to full time. So here I go. Welcome Lois and Don. I too just joined the forum and dh and I both are retiring June 1 of this year. I'm an LPN, just getting burned out I think and dh worked in a sawmill. I would also like to fulltime, dh is holding out. So we are making an 8 month trip starting Sept back East from our state of Washington and then down to Florida and across to Texas for the winter time. We bought a small 25 foot Trail Lite mh and will try and find a small toad. I love the forum and everyone's plans and ideas. So many people are adventuring out and about....America is great for our freedom to do so. Good Luck to you.....Karebear
My name is Marsha and I've just signed up for this site. My husband (Howard) and I will be full-timing, starting in about 30 to 60 days. Howard is 57 and had a heart attack on Thanksgiving and it made us realize that life is just too short. We have always loved camping and have rv-ed in Mexico for up to 2 months at a time when we were younger. We realized we miss the adventure and spontaneity that we had then. So we decided to put our ranch up for sale and just got an offer that we accepted TODAY (with a 30-day escrow)! (GULP!)
So, we are going to be busy for the next month. We will be buying some type of Pusher Diesel. (We didn't want to get too excited til the ranch sold! haha) I am enjoying reading the articles about how to go from a house to a motorhome. We are very fortunate in that the guy that is buying our ranch wants to keep everything. So that makes it a little easier for us.
My question is this . . . do any of you have lists of tools, and otheR "necessary" items for full-time living? I look at my kitchen and don't know where to begin. Then I look at Howard's garage and SHUDDER!!! He has EVERY type of tool and piece of equipment imaginable!
Any help or suggestions you can provide will be GREATLY appreciated, and I look forward to keeping in touch with you in the future!
