You are the queen of the hummers   

Hey Linda,

I am so glad that this forum has been started.  I think it is about time that you have your own space to let us know what you are thinking and can give us your prospective of the full-time RV life.

I have not talked to you in a long time.  I too have had the opportunity to have hummers eat right out my hand while we were in New Mexico in Cimarron Canyon State Park.  There were hundreds of them.  We had four feeders out, but they seemed to like the one that we have that is like the one that yall sell. 

The little hummers would go through 8 oz of sugar water a day.  There would be 5 or 6 hummers at a time trying to feed off of the same feeder.  They would nudge their way in over each other to get a turn at the feeder as the one on the perch would lean back to let one of the others in. 

The females of course were very patient, but the male would chase them all away to have the feeder to himself, that is until a couple of the females had had enough of his showing off and ganged up on him and ran him off. 

The males had black heads, bright red rings around their necks and the green shiny bodies. The females were mostly all green with a few that had some white on them.  The male and female's feather colors almost seemed metalic.

I loved having them feed out of the feeder while I was holding it. I couldn't get enough.  Johnny and I would sit and watch them for hours.  They were very entertaining.  Their wings whistled as they flew around us.  It was great!
