Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Electric Fry Pan

hi,

We are in final prepartaiton to leave on thursday for an extended trip, plan to return in November.
I am not a cook but THE WIFE is, what is the consensus on whether or not to take an electric fry pan? Would one use it often enough to take it?

We have been traveling on our boat and did not use it as we anchored out most of the time with no 110v, so we used gas to cook.

Hope to boon dock a lot but will use st and nat parks a lot.

We've got an electric frying pan but the wife seldom uses it, relying on the Insta-pot and a Nu Wave induction cooktop. We never boondock and always stay in an RV park.

If we fry something that smells we have used an electric fry pan outside, but otherwise we use a normal fry pan on the gas burner.

I love having an electric skillet. Mine is huge - 14 in diameter round and 5 quarts. But it’s one those things I cherish from a childhood memory. At our lake cabin, my mom used one on the screened porch to cook a full breakfast (bacon, potatoes & eggs) for about 8 people.

I have used the heck out of mine. I’m cooking some things ahead for the freezer. Yesterday was chili. Currently cooking a sweet potato & peanut stew. Tonight or tomorrow I’ll fix Salisbury steak.

We use the propane stove a couple of times a year. The rest of the time it is the microwave, cookpot, or electric skillet. Oh yes, the George Foreman gets used some, too.

We carried an electric skillet (a larger, rectangular one) for about 18 months or so. It was just never convenient to use and took up a lot of space. It then spent a couple of years in our storage unit and is now on its way to our daughter. What we have now is a single "burner" portable induction cooktop on which we can use our large 12" fry pan when we don't want to splatter or smell up the inside of the rig. The one skillet can be used either on the stove inside or on the induction top outside and the induction unit is more compact than the electric skillet was.
