Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

How I've been spending my vacation or maybe not a vacation.....

I don't think I've told anyone here this, except for maybe Howard and Linda but I sometimes get called into service by the FDIC to help them "resolve" failed banks.  Essentially what that means is that I have to talk to a lot of borrowers who had loans with the failed bank and help them move them to another bank or credit union.  The first month or so of this is 70-80 hours a week working 7 days a week.  Don't feel too sorry for me, I get paid pretty well for this but that's why I've been MIA for the last month or so.  I hope everyone is having more fun than I am.   The good thing is I'll get to add a fair amount to my emergency/fun fund.

Nothing wrong with that, Dave.  Jo and I did similar last year by taking part time employment (three months) to do road surveys in Indiana.  And, it looks like we will do the same again this year with plans to return to Indiana.  It's never a bad thing to bring in some more money.

Good luck with everything, and try to get enough rest.  Oh, and be as careful as you can with "social distancing" in your efforts.

Terry

Well Terry, the FDIC made me "social distance" myself back home in Michigan. Fortunately they let me rent a car and drive instead of flying. I might have flown If I could have gotten a direct flight to Detroit where my car was but the drive was only 2 days and I get paid 1/3 of my normal wage to drive which really works out to half because it was overtime. The good thing is I only had to see about 3 or 4 people on my way back and Covid 19 wasn't in most little towns yet. Certainly didn't stop in Chicago.

Yeah, I wouldn't stop in Chicago either.  While we were working central Indiana last year, we had a "breakdown" on the survey van and needed a new part.  They sent a new part and a cable for it and when we tested things out, the old part was still good, meaning that the cable was bad.  But, the cable they sent us was too short to reach from the front sensor back to the computers in the back of the van.  So, they had one of the technicians fly up to Chicago and we were to pick him up at Midway Airport.  He would then find a parking lot somewhere and install the longer cable that he would bring with him.

Well, he missed his early flight, so we had to pick him up at O'Hare Airport instead of Midway and then drop him off at Midway for his flight out.  The traffic in Chicago was horrendous, both on the expressways and on the city streets.  I informed him that if a similar situation ever occurred, there were airports in Indianapolis and South Bend that he could fly into, and that I NEVER wanted to drive in Chicago again.
