Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Aloha All. I actually joined this group a while ago, but since I have not been on the forum for a few years I thought I would introduce myself again. Our goal (my wife Yvette and I) has been to eventually full time. When I was retiring from the military after 25 years I was really looking into it and was always researching and gathering information. We made the mistake of taking a vacation to Molokai (a very small secluded Hawaiian island) before I retired and we fell in love with it. When I retired in 2016 we put our Full Timing on hold and moved to Molokai and started the 1st permitted B&B on the island (www.halekamaluhia.com). Things have been going well and business is doing great, but it has limited our ability to travel when we want to. We are again talking about selling everything and hitting the road, so I am back to researching and gathering information. I know I want a Class A Diesel with at least 1 slide out and want to tow a vehicle. I have heard that Foretravel and Country Coach are good, but would like to hear about any that others would recommend. I will be seeking advice and guidance in the other threads, but just wanted to say Aloha.

Welcome again. If you want to travel by RV any of the Hawaiian Islands are probably not the place to be. Not that I didn't enjoy the big island when I was there, it's just that you only have a few roads to travel. Once again, welcome back.

Welcome back! The size of an A (or any RV) can limit where you can camp. Where do you see yourselves camping? Here’s an example. www.parks.ca.gov/RVlength

Yeah, it is a bit difficult to RV here. Our island is only 35 miles long and 10 miles wide. That's why we will have to sell everything and move back to the mainland. As far as what we plan to do, we will be visiting a lot of people. Since we did 25 years in the military, it has been a long time since we have seen a lot of friends, plus all of the friends we have all over the country from our military time. I also need to be busy, so we plan on doing a lot of volunteer work.

We have others in our group that found the same issue with their successful B & Bs. The freedom of full-timing calls to many of us that already had it pretty darn good.  :)

You are correct Howard. It seems crazy sometimes to want to give up living on the beach in Hawaii to go RVing full time, but we are really leaning that way. We love living here on Molokai and enjoy meeting guests from all over the world, but when we want to travel we have to shut everything down and when we return we have more work than when we left.
