Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Stumbled onto this site while searching power draw for a CPAP while dry camping.
I'm Bill, the missus is Terri.
We've been the usual route: tents, popups, travel trailer and we've been our 2010 Montana 3400RL just over 3 years now.
The goal is to switch to full timing but it seems something (or someone) always comes up.  That said, we spent 166 days in the RV last year (according to my NEST thermostat) including 3 extended road trips (New England, Arizona, and Key West) from our home in Virginia, in addition to 6 weeks at various NASCAR tracks.  So we expect the transition to full timing shouldn't be all that traumatic and with 9 grandkids spread across the country, we expect to continue our travels for some time.
I'm reasonably handy when it comes to maintenance and repairs including installing a 650W solar array, as well as an ONAN generator (for those summer months when I really want both ACs running ) and a Quadra Bigfoot 6pt leveling system on the Montana.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone, learning from the group as well as sharing my experience.

Welcome! We're not planning to full time, but plan to be on the road about 6 months a year. We just put a deposit on a motorhome and are taking a road trip this weekend to make sure it's what we want.

Being handy is a good thing if you're an RVer and being flexible as in comfortable with plans being made in jello but then you've been RVing enough to know that! Hope we see you on the road at some point or you can always come visit us in South Texas when the weather is cold in the rest of the world.

Hey Mr. Bill and missus Terri, Welcome. This site is full of good information, better than any other I have found. Most sites I've run across trend toward opinion, this one seems to deal more in fact and actual experience. Not quite as busy as some others but very high quality. Again, welcome maybe I'll see you at a NASCAR race, I'm the the spotter for the #48 ARCA car.

 As has been said on here many times, there's no "right way" to do this.  We were going to do what you plan to do ... but we needed to downsize.  Instead of buying a smaller house right away, we just put the money in the bank and we are side stepping (fill in the blank) years of property tax and insurance, until we decide to come off the road.  Good luck and safe travels.
