Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We are coming up on our one year FT anniversary, since we have paid till then, I calculated our average nightly cost for a site.
Personally all of the other costs of life are so variable, and others post down to the dollar budgets. But this seems to be of interest to most, since it's the biggest expense one can have some control over.
for us it was $34
For a bit more, the most we paid was $90, at a KOA in Billings MT, but that was off set by an equal number of nights we stayed at friends or family for $0
My favorite "bargain" place was Scenic View in South Sioux City NE, only $18, for 50 amps and cable.
Another was in Ellis KS, $20 for a river view 50 amps and water.
Our average for the past 12 months was $23.72/night. We don't boondock/moochdock/Waldock or do the BLM thing. We do, however, use a lot of military campgrounds, RV parks and resorts. We also had a couple of months of monthly rates this past 12 months due to illness.

For the past few years we have been averaging around $15/night. We extensively use membership parks, PPA while going between destinations, and a couple of driveway stays of a week or two each year, to keep our costs down. And yes, that does include our membership dues each year.

This winter we paid $1700/month, electricity included, in Fort Myers so our costs so far are $35.01 a night. This includes campground membership fees. In 2017 our cost was $26.25/night.

Our 5 year average is $20.83/night, year to date this year we're at $21.10. We only dry camp about 15% of the time including spending at least 4-8 weeks in Quartzsite each winter. We generally have 3 different months each year where we stop for a month at a time and pay the monthly rate vs. a weekly or daily rate so that really helps to keep the average down.
After 2123 nights (going on 6 years) our average nightly is $25.42. But it has steadily gone up each year. ^ years ago we set out with a goal of staying at or under $25 average per night. We see that slowly slipping away.

To my mind it's all relative. As long as your income is keeping up... all is well.
