Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Chasing our dream

35 years ago my wife and I was on our honeymoon in the Yellowstone area.  While there we talked with some folks that were spending the summer voluntering in the park while living in their RV.  My wife and I thought that would definitely be something we would like to do and have kept it in the back of our minds for the years to come.  Well, all of sudden I'm 60 and looking at retiring in a couple of years.  We started to look at class A diesel pushers but, when visiting a camping show that turned out didn't have any class A motor homes, we looked at some 5th wheel Toy Haulers.  Since we cover many thousands of miles touring the country each summer on our Honda Goldwing motorcycle we have decided the Toy Hauler may work best for us.  We are in the process of looking at Toy Hauler 5th wheels and have a plan to purchase by next spring.  We have some friends that knew Howard and Linda and they recommended their site.  I have been reading this forum and have enjoyed the knowledge that has been shared here and will be looking for some answers to many of our question!

Trailer King has the best advice, trouble is we don't know when that health toll will rear it's ugly head! Bit like when will the grim reaper appear.

In our fifties and 61 just turned for hubby and bodies falling apart due to construction and farming abuse over the years, albeit no lack of exercise for sure - noticed a huge difference in change the past couple years on backs, hips, arthritis, rotator cuff tears etc. Gotta make hay whilst the sun shines now, as the clouds are starting to loom over us for sure. (Can you hear the violin playing LOL).

Seriously, we all tend to think we're infallible (take for granted) when in good health, but you just don't know when, where or how you will be as a person next week, next year or in five years time from now. When it's even remotely feasible to retire and start living your dreams, do it. Yesterday has gone. Today is a gift that's why we call it the "present", and tomorrow may never come.

Many years ago someone said to me when I was really sick which turned out to be a combination of septicaemia, pleurisy and pneumonia and suffered with the Fear Fright syndrome as an after effect - "either hurry up living or hurry up dying cos ya can't do both". Oh boy have we been hurrying up living since. So many memories and smiles of, and so many more hopefully to come.

Happy and Safe Travels.

SD.

PS: Hubby and youngest daughter in Cabo SL fishing and whale shark snorkelling right now - they home on Sat and then hubby and I jump in RV on Sunday night to head off for 3 months and meet cousin coming from Ireland in Vegas to tour highlights of AZ, Nevada, California for 3 weeks with her. Unexpected circumstances curbed our planned full timing by 50/55 but ......we found a way to compromise than not see at least a part of our bucket list.
