Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
My wife and I attended the fall RV-Dreams rally in Sevierville and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We went because we wanted to gain information as we have been looking at RV's with the intent to purchase one with full-timing in mind. There was a drawing for door prizes and we won one of them. We ended up with 25 feet of sewer hose - a 10 foot section and a 15 foot section (it was my choice out of the remaining items.) It was noticed that we did not own an RV and, in fact, it was commented on. Well, the guilt has been eating us up. So, to remedy the situation, we are now the proud owners of a 2018 DRV Mobile Suites 44 Sante Fe fifth wheel. And now I have to make the amazingly difficult sacrifice and buy a truck -- a nice, big, comfortable truck. So beware these rallies - they suck you in. We are seeing the true cost of our 'free' sewer hose and I am thinking this might be the most expensive free hose we have ever owned. Next thing you know we'll have to start using it and meet people at all sorts of places like campgrounds and RV parks and visit all sorts of different locales. I hear rumors that we could even visit 49 out of 50 states with the RV. Fortunately I still have to work a couple more years (Oh yay!) and won't be able to spend summers in cooler weather - I mean who doesn't enjoy the Texas heat in summer?
I want to thank Howard and Linda for organizing and hosting the rally. I would also like to thank the friends we made there. We hope to meet up with you somewhere out there sometime in the near future - only 2 years until we can do more than weekend trips with an occasional week long one thrown in. I also want to thank the nice people who contribute to the forum, taking the time to answer questions - a few of the questions were mine. I appreciate the advice I have received so far and look forward to the continued help in the future. I know I will have more questions to come as we start learning how to do this ourselves.
There are several other 'FREE' surprises still to come your way.
Boondocking and BLM camping are free. Dark nights and shooting stars are free. Floating down a river is free. Hiking only costs a little sweet. Campfires are almost free and Smores are cheap. Morning birds to wake you up is free. And coyotes will howl you to sleep.
You will never need to buy a wrist watch again.
And watching sunsets is priceless.

John ... Congratulations!! You certainly picked a good one (5th wheel). On the truck ... dually for sure, all the big three are fine (chevy might not have enough towing capacity rating) ... be sure to check that, I know that Ram and Ford are OK (assuming that you are buying new). Hope to see you around one of these days.

The truck will definitely be a dually. And diesel. And long bed. And I am sure to see you at some point. I may even come spend a month or so where you winter once I have retired and won't have a fixed home base anymore.
